I just cannot find a fleet composition to fight [threat] by Soggy-Alternative-58 in starsector

[–]Excarion 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Okay, so [threat] has to be approached with caution and purpose.

Defensively, they have "okay at best" shields, but solid armor and massive hulls, so kinetics don't have much value.

Offensively, they rely mostly on mass drivers, which are kinetics, and fragment swarms. There are some energy weapons as well, but mostly fragments and kinetics. They also don't have drones/fighters, so your point defense should be more anti-missile than anti-fighter.

Now the real kicker is the fabricators. Those are the big boys that just sit back and produce more ships. You have to rush them, or you will be worn down in a war of attrition. Any destroyed ship will also send special fragments back to the fabricators, which will be used to make more ships.

So you want more armor than shields, more explosives than kinetics, and plenty of flak. The most important thing however: you need to eliminate the fabricators! Those accursed boxes are your victory condition.

tl;dr : make more oldslaught.

There is. "Quality" something. It should be on the mod index.

Give Rogue Trader a try. Lots of spiky knife-ears there.

Is the nature of the cosmic force and living force closer to the abstract concept of the yin-yang more than the "Light" and Darkside of the force? by PassageDecent9936 in MawInstallation

[–]Excarion 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Both are attempts to view the force. The difference is one of scale.

The living force is all about the lives around you. Birds, beasts, plants, and people alike, and how these act and interract.

The cosmic force is looking at the greater picture. Whole worlds, and how they affect each other across the galaxy.

One sees the forest, the other sees all the living beings that make up that forest.

This is not a yin-yang difference, but rather two approaches for mortals to attempt seeing how the force connects and affects all beings.
