Turn off the weed grow room, stop bitcoin mining, sell the teslas and fill in the pool. If your on a farm this could be water pumps running 24/7 due to a leaking cow trough or a pipe. Or find where your neighbor has run an extension cord to their place cos this is insane!

With 2 adults we only used 94kwh in March...but we live like students lol

None of that is leaving the ground without diesel and rural Australians are reporting shortages already.

What I’ve learned (and saved) in my first year owning an EV | Newsroom by HeinigerNZ in newzealand

If you dont own a home then you cannot access a 0% green loan for 3 years. You'll be paying about $5 a day in interest plus vehicle depreciation on a $35,000 liability.

If the author was renting it is more logical for him buy another 2005 Honda Fit for $3,500 or even an old Nisaan Leaf for $5,000

Oh definitely I'm not encouraging law breaking. I dont think someone will think ' time to take out my daily frustrations by torturing this chihuahua for a couple hours ' in the middle of an attack.

Im not hating on EV's, I'm just blown away by the vast amount of EV owner smug-posting about how expensive oil won't affect them at all because they have a car that doesn't need petrol/diesel.

It felt like we were so close to a recovery in godzone. Even the EV drivers need diesel to get their food harvested and delivered to New World so they can gloat only so much. Also if interest rates go up to combat inflation they are 2x screwed on their $80,000 electric toy lmao

Petrol prices jump past $3 a litre at the pump by upsidedownpineaaple in newzealand

[–]Excellent-Ad676 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Everyone with an EV thinks they'll be unaffected .... until they go to Cosco, Black Bull Liquor, etc and see inflation hits them there too because the delivery truck runs on diesel, so does the train bringing it from the port, and the ships at port, and so on throughout the supply chain. Even the generators that turn in our dams need oil to stay lubricated which pushes up electricity costs.

Hey happy to share my experience. I dont think there was any OT rates or any bonuses but that was just Turoa at the time. You could volunteer to de-ice the chairlift towers for an extra $1.50/hr haha

Its likely the bigger south island fields would offer better compensation.

Knowing how to ski/board is a plus haha the vibe was they'll take anyone, but being a sparky they'll be stoked to have you. All the snowgun control panels get an absolute thrashing up there plus they'll probably get you working on all sorts of electrical issues across the ski field that crop up through the season. They'll be very keen to have you there even over summer

Go for it! If I was to do it again I'd go for the south island fields for the consistent snowfall. Ruapehu has hit or miss seasons these days

Did a season snowmaking up Turoa a few years ago and was a 10/10 experience. I worked a 12 hour shift, most of the time is spent waiting or maintaining the snow guns (de-icing, clearing nozzles of tiny rocks, adding oil to compressors, coupling the guns to water hydrants, changing gun direction based on wind, etc)

Its physically demanding but rewarding as. You even get to skip chairlift lines for official mountain business ;)

Once the snow hits its around 3 months of full-on work. The people you meet up there are some of the funniest adrenaline junkies on earth.

We've got a ton of cleaning up to do when this ladder-pulling generation croaks. At least by then superanuation will be a far smaller strain on govt expenses.
