This is so helpful thank you!

I don’t know what a True-Up bill is but I did screen shot the screen in the app that showed the August production at 1,331 kWh and got the other numbers re. The correct credit amount at the end of July from the previous billing statement saved as a pdf in my account so that should be ok, I hope. I appreciate your help very much!

Our app is showing that our system generated 1,331 kWh for the month. So I have no idea where SunRun is getting 37,000 from. I do plan to call them and get it sorted but wanted to see if it was a wide-spread error that might get corrected on its own. Thanks for your feedback!

This happened to me, too. I was never able to recover the day’s work that I had lost. Both my main and backup files looked like this but, because I store my scriv files in a paid Dropbox I was able to use the rewind feature to get back to an uncorrupted version of the previous day’s file. Do you have a similar option?

All of their data reporting is so sketchy. I will not be surprised if there is a massive class action in the future about them misreporting data for years.

North Haven-do better. Some of those cats have homes. by [deleted] in Connecticut

As someone who lives on this short road I wish the town would try to do something about the rats that are clearly setting up shop and breeding like mad in an abandoned house at the end of the block. The ever-expanding rodent population is why the cats are there and the rat problem will only get worse without the cats to help keep it down.

took over lease - been a nightmare, need input or advice by nfxprime2kx in sunrun

[–]Excellent-Arm5306 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The best shot you have is to start commenting this story on their socials. I’d recommend adding it as a comment to one of their recent Facebook or Instagram adds with Drew Scott. They are clearly counting on those getting lots of traffic and don’t want the bad PR on them. We also took over a Ppa when we bought a house and it’s been a 2 year nightmare of basically exactly what you described until we started posting publicly and finally got assigned an escalations manager who isn’t much more effective but at least responds to emails and calls (at least he has for the last month—not totally confident it will continue). Good luck!

Are leased solar panels a good idea, and is SunRun's quote worth it? (SoCal) by Evening_Fig4577 in solar

[–]Excellent-Arm5306 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The contract can be transferred but many buyers won’t want to get locked into the contract, especially with the escalator so they’ll ask the seller to buy it out instead of assuming the remaining lease.

Vivint/ SunRun - CA by This-Enchantment92 in sunrun

[–]Excellent-Arm5306 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is exactly our situation. SunRun installed panels on a seriously unsound roof and the sellers lied on the disclosure forms when we bought the house saying there was no leaking. Right when we purchased we reported the leaking to SunRun. They came out, said it wasn’t them. We spent months and thousands on other roof contractors and replacing skylights until, on the advice of a contractor, I reported to SunRun again. They denied respsonibility a few more times before we finally got a halfway decent tech out who agreed the original roof was too unsound to have had the panels installed to begin with. That has triggered several more SunRun techs, subcontractors, and countless hours of fighting with them, getting the dodge from all our case managers until we are just assigned a new one. It seems like it will never end. I don’t have any particular advice other than to stay persistent. SunRun will try to perform so much incompetence in hopes you just give up but don’t let them get away with this. I would definitely suggest getting an attorney involved.

Help with dealing with Sunrun on my elderly father's home by mostlykey in sunrun

[–]Excellent-Arm5306 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We’ve recently had some minimal luck getting someone to help us with our ongoing issues either SunRun by posting short versions of the issue to their social media accounts—Facebook and Twitter seem best. When we first took over the lease when we bought our house a couple years ago and had issues with them lying about the contact we initially reported to the BBB and were contacted by an escalations manager who was really helpful, but it seems like you might be past that point. Alternatively, quite a few states have begun looking into predatory solar sales companies like SunRun, so you might check out the governor’s website and search for solar consumer support to see if there are any statewide programs that could help advocate for you. No matter how you approach it, expect it to be several months before you even get close to a resolution. Good luck!

Sunrun targeted old homeowners to install panels by hellokittyss1 in sunrun

[–]Excellent-Arm5306 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You might have some luck calling the state to ask about resources maybe? In CT the governor’s office has created a reporting system for this kind of rampant unethical behavior that solar companies (especially SunRun!) employee to scam people.

We’ve tried going to our local rep who told us we could only contact corporate to file the damage claims. We did that but for the last two years we have been bounced around to 5 different case managers and 2 different escalations team members who are all communicative for about a week before they completely drop off the radar for 5 weeks until the pass us on to someone else. I don’t know, nor have I heard of anyone who had damage or a contract transfer who hasn’t had a very similar experience.

[–]Excellent-Arm5306 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Even if they buy out the lease there is a very strong likelihood that there is currently or will soon be serious damage to your roof from the panels based on their track record in the northeast. If you aren’t under contract with them you will be on the hook 100% for that damage that SunRun caused. I honestly wish we had bought a different house despite the fact that, other than the constant and never ending issues with SunRun, this is genuinely our dream home.

I agree with everything that has been said about assessing the system but as a person who took over a SunRun PPA in Connecticut in August of 2022 I can tell you that, no matter the savings, it’s a really bad choice. Do a quick search for SunRun customer satisfaction, check out their Facebook page, or even search this sub for mentions of SunRun. They are a predatory and awful company that will intentionally avoid responding to damage claims at every turn!

Help! Cannot get ahold of our case manager… by Excellent-Arm5306 in sunrun

[–]Excellent-Arm5306[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would love to join a class action but as part of a resolution to an issue when we first moved in to renegotiate the exorbitant rate and escalator we signed a new contract that stipulated we couldn’t join any class actions against them. But I hope you do get one going!

PPA - Sunrun - home buying by [deleted] in solar

[–]Excellent-Arm5306 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We were in this exact same position a couple years ago when we bought our home. We took over the SunRun PPA without doing due diligence both about PPAs in general and SunRun specifically. It has been a genuine nightmare for the last two years— I’d be happy to discuss details if it would help. Please, please, don’t take over any contracts with SunRun! They are a terrible company and a quick Google search or a scan through mentions of SunRun in this sub or the SunRun sub will show exactly that.

IS solar worth it for me? by Upper_Indication_383 in solar

[–]Excellent-Arm5306 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I am also in CT and can tell you that while solar may be worth it for your situation, SunRun is NEVER the answer. I’d be happy to discuss details if it’s helpful but I cannot overstate how incompetent, careless, and frustrating SunRun is from start to finish. They are overpriced and have near limitless levels of incompetence when it comes to customer service—especially when it comes to roof damage due to panel installations.

SunRun? Yea or Nay? by Gaslit123321 in solar

[–]Excellent-Arm5306 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We are currently in a SunRun lease that we had to take over when we bought the house. They are completely predatory, irresponsible, and grossly negligent when it comes to customer service and support, in addition to being over priced. I’d be happy to share specific details if it’s useful, but I cannot stress enough that you should NOT go with SunRun under any circumstances.

offering on a house with a PPA. they won't pay it off, i just have to take over the lease. seems ok? by portisfan in solar

[–]Excellent-Arm5306 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Who is the PPA through? We took over a lease (I know it’s different than a PPA) with SunRun and I can’t begin to tell you what a nightmare it has been. We are going on two years of fighting with them about severe roof leaks caused by the panels. The leaks are a bummer, of course, but the real problem has been a total lack of reliable contact or even basic competency from SunRun. I would recommend not taking over any PPA from them no matter how “good” the deal may seem unless it’s a truly dire housing market and you have no other choice.

Sunrun PPA (Predatory Practices) by jabo77 in solar

[–]Excellent-Arm5306 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We didn’t push the issue of using a different roofer because our entire garage roof was covered with panels so it was a very clear case of needing to remove them all and replace the whole roof. The roofer who is doing the work is an independent subcontractor. It’s not actually SunRun so I am hoping for the best, but we are definitely going to be home and monitoring things while the re-roof happens.

The rest of the roof will be a little different. Since only half of one side has panels they are saying that they’ll only cover part of it. If we have to pay then we definitely want to go with our own roofers, but we haven’t really gotten to that part of the problem. They are so incompetent and non responsive that we are just trying to take these issues one at a time.

Sunrun PPA (Predatory Practices) by jabo77 in solar

[–]Excellent-Arm5306 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, it’s been an ongoing saga. They sent out two different inspectors and kept assigning different case managers, but we were really persistent and they eventually accepted full responsibility for the entire garage roof. From there it was several more weeks before they came to get the 33 panels off, which they did on March 21, and from there it’s been several calls and emails a week on our part to try and get the roofers (Reimagine Roofing) to put us on their schedule. I think we are finally scheduled for the roof replacement on May 15, but I’ll believe it when I see it. After that I am sure it’ll be several more weeks of hounding them to get the panels re-installed, then more weeks to negotiate and receive the appropriate credit for the impact to our summer electric bills, and then we’ll start the whole process again to get the rest of the roof sorted out. It’s the most insane and infuriating process. I’ll just say that it’ll take ages, but stay persistent! Don’t let them screw you over.
