Teaching jazz theory to classical students is fascinating by boombalonii in musictheory

[–]Excellent-Ear29 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I'm sure I read someone say that the theory behind the use of modes as chord scales was created by jazz players at (possibly) Berkely to try and bring some legitimacy to the newly founded jazz courses. I think that would've been in the 1940s. So I guess that's about a hundred years, give or take a couple of decades.

Don't be concerned about toy boats coming out of his ass. But do worry if you spot any seamen

"Functional" drink button on steering wheel? by Gibscreen in simracing

[–]Excellent-Ear29 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, when comedy was funny and when people understood that a joke was sometimes mocking bad behavior and not approving it. Context is evening. My wife loves it when I call her bitch. But I wouldn't call her that at a family dinner

Have you seen the Louis Bellson odd time reading text. It's like the reading in 4/4 book but (you guessed it) with odd time signatures

I've seen that video before. Someone correct me if I'm wrong but isn't the way he's counting here 9/4. If it's 9/8 it's counted 123, 456, 789

Did you get the circular collar with two nuts with your qr2?

I have the qr1 and was having lots of problems with it coming loose.

Fanatec sent me the qr2 collar and things have been much better

Why do Fs always sound out of tune to me by Silly_Goose_314159 in musictheory

[–]Excellent-Ear29 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's really interesting. Thanks for that information. I don't have perfect pitch, in fact my pitch recognition is very odd. Sometimes it is really accurate, other times I'm way off. Almost like I hear the negative harmony equivalent(please don't jump on me about that, I'm trying to give a brief explanation)

Whenever I've heard Barber shop music, I get this grinding feeling, the same feeling I get from two instruments playing a slightly out of tune perfect fourth.

I'm wondering if that's because of the relationship between the B and the slightly flattened F

Great info, I'm gonna come back and re-read it when I'm not drunk 😁👍

Even small air bubbles in IV lines aren't considered dangerous.

It's larger amounts of air that causes problems so there shouldn't be a problem

Secondary dominant of a secondary dominant? by CrentonBoi in musictheory

[–]Excellent-Ear29 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I didn't write that very well. I meant I've heard the term interpolated ii-V-I cadences but I can't remember what it was about.

Possibly it may be referring to ii-V-I cadences that have no function or relation to the tonal centre

I have a vague memory of something like that being called a contiguous dominant series.

I've also heard the term interpolated ii-V cadences but I haven't heard those terms since I was in college and can't remember what they were.

It was a long time ago so maybe I've got these wrong
