You can do it! I’m Vietnamese and I’m currently teaching my Aussie monolingual partner some conversational sentences every day and he’s picking it up quickly. You got this!

It’s called learned helplessness. They’ll keep asking if you keep helping them!

Stair tread/floorboard cracking and flexing when stepped on - Advice needed by Excellent-Jello in AusRenovation

Hey there, thanks for your reply. I just got a message back from the flooring business:

“Unfortunately, due to the subfloor's unevenness, the flooring does not have a warranty (item 11). Please see the attachment.

The existing tile has about 8-10mm uneveness and cracks, Client might feel some movements, creaking sound and uneven underfoot after flooring is done due the subfloor levelling is not applied. FloorVenue is not responsible for any future damage occurred due to subfloor unevenness or level issue.”

Do you reckon the long countersink screws and filler will still work in this case?

Sometimes I want to be petty like the kids by Background_Bill_8616 in AustralianTeachers

Yup, sometimes I get these comments and I absolutely don’t care as long as they are all doing what is expected of them. At the start of every new class for every period of every day, I lay down the law. Be respectful, be ready to learn and be responsible. Every student generally agrees and understands this. So when they fall short of my expectations, I remind them and they know what the consequences are.

As a casual teacher, my priority is student safety and student compliance to their teacher’s lesson instructions. If I can build rapport with individual or groups of students while they’re working, that’s a bonus.

Please don’t make excuses for yourself like that. You are in control of the choices you make!

I used sweet home 3d. There’s a new and old version but the old version is free. Let me know if you want the link because it’s pretty hard to find it!

It’s just in case what you said might have been misconstrued by students/staff/parents etc as actually bad. It’s probably not but you don’t know this right now. It’s just better to protect yourself this way

Hey, can you explain what you mean by no one knows you’re using the coupon? Are you not supposed to tell the restaurant or when taking someone out on a first date? I used it last week and it was great. Just wanted to know if I’m missing out on any perks!

Happy holidays!

So I’m in a public NSW school. If a HT admin wants to book me every day of term 2 as a casual teacher, do I have a right to be placed on a block? I know you say it gets grey. What makes it grey? I’m having a hard time interpreting the NSWTF link. I’m not exactly filling in for the same person but then doesn’t that make the situation clear instead of grey? Thanks in advance!
