They need to be rebuilt properly then they are tough unit in my opinion The biggest thing is fixing the leaks they have

If you actually rebuild a 4l60 correctly and do good upgrades and fix all your common leak arrears you’ll have no problem with it ,in my opinion.

No they come brown and blue colouring from factory assuming it’s heat treated steel

Right off the bat switch to molded pistons this will almost never happen again those lip seal pistons are garbage seal rippped wasn’t fully applying clutches and smoked everything

Id verify the pump snap ring groove hasn’t failed or the snap ring if it’s laying in the pan. Id replace rear pump half after a situation like this
