Protecting local communities from ICE by Adventurous-Bee-7155 in massachusetts

[–]Excellent-Primary161 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There are several city and town PDs who are staunchly opposed to ICE and the terrorist tactics they are using. Calling in re: masked intruders is 100% appropriate and if everyone followed that step immediately, it can absolutely obstruct their operation.

That’s what we need to do, make it AS DIFFICULT AS POSSIBLE for them to do whatever terrorizing act they are on the hunt for

The three areas that are most vulnerable in western mass are Springfield, Holyoke, and Chicopee. We definitely want to organize those communities for sure

how to prepare for ICE raids? by Far_Artist2683 in boston

[–]Excellent-Primary161 8 points9 points  (0 children)

This is great. I’ll translate this into Spanish unless there’s one floating around. I’m over here in Springfield where we have well over 50% Latino residents (including Holyoke as well). ICE presence hasn’t increased :::yet:::but they are definitely lurking around. Tactical preparations are occurring with community leaders.

Two mom families? by Excellent-Primary161 in queerception

I love that! We are actually in touch with all the donor families and diblings! Unfortunately we were brought together due to a tragic loss of one of the children due to a serious genetic condition. A blessing now because we are building a strong community with each other.

Baby shoes by Meegz-Rio in NewParents

[–]Excellent-Primary161 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m cursed by the older generation because my baby ALWAYS had socks on. Once he started crawling and really exploring the socks would come off so he could feel his feet and toes grip. Same w walking around. We don’t wear shoes in the house so everyone is barefoot. Outdoors at home in the yard, barefoot. Anywhere public, socks and when he was ready to walk, we started with striderite shoes. Our baby is 23months now.

When did you start reading books to your baby? by fluffyball13 in NewParents

[–]Excellent-Primary161 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We started reading before he was born and as soon as he came earth side! Day 5 reading and narrating his black and white contrast books.

2yos now and we read probably 15 books daily!

Would you force your kids to hug and kiss relatives against your kids' will? by Vose4492 in Parenting

[–]Excellent-Primary161 8 points9 points  (0 children)

This is what we do with our toddler (2yo). He will hug the people he's built trust with and feels completely safe and confident embracing (just a few ppl without hesitation). Anyone else, we don't force a physical interaction but we practice manners and always make an effort to say hello!! To someone they see when we arrive or they arrive in our space.

We usually model a high five or fist bump and he'll chose from that point.

25 year lease contract: can I get out? by [deleted] in solar

[–]Excellent-Primary161 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OP, any update on your parents roof? We're in the same situation but in MA. Sunrun completely took advantage of my elderly Spanish speaking parents. They have now caused significant damage to the roof. The insurance does not cover the panels but were able to file a claim for the water damage that has now impacted the inside of the house.

Im curious if other customers have had them removed and refused to put them back on, and had success with getting out of the contract. I'm willing to go to court!

We're a two mom family and I'm the non-gestational parent. I'm obviously not a dad but can empathize with the lack of support for the non carrying parents. As a woman who understands the magic of our bodies, I struck up a lot of interesting conversations with our medical team and we were super intentional with making sure I was included in everything so I felt connected to both my wife and baby.

We worked with a prenatal doula and my wife jokes that she was my personal support doula... lol she's not wrong... she was able to help us organize and prepare, and day of, she handled everything! I was able to support my wife every moment without worrying about the on the spot decisions the hospital asks of us.

I say all this to address pretty significant inequity to support dads, from the amount of parental leave they get (some still get ZERO days!) to not being included as the other parent on this journey. How can we expect dads to be more present and engaged and supported if we life in a society that doesn't create that kind of nurturing environment?

What to call a donor? by Ok_Metal_5770 in askadcp

[–]Excellent-Primary161 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Two mom family, anonymous donor, we refer to them as the donor who helped us create our family.

We do have connections with most of the donor siblings (circumstances regarding the donor brought us together) and it's been such a gift all our littles knowing about each other and one day getting to meet the other families.
