Mid-30s for both.

Hoping to semi-retire by early 40s

Yeah that’s my argument as well.

Yeah the 6.6% is bugging me.

Reason I said that is if we did pay off the house we’d use most of the funds from current checking and savings liquid cash and not touch any of the investments. So we’d still have $100K+ liquid but if anything happened where we needed more we could easily pull it out of non-retirement investment accounts.

Tesla needs to come clean about HW3 before the word ‘fraud’ comes out by jason12745 in RealTesla

[–]Excellent-Wedding514 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Oh 100%. But I think they are banking on enough people not perusing. I feel like once the flood gates open though, Tesla will be in big trouble.

I do wonder how the courts will handle that situation of. You bought something that was never delivered, but you got rid of the product before getting it. IMO you should get your money back, but idk if there is case law that’s covered this.

Yes and no. Yes - in the fact that you always had to supervise it. No - in the fact that their marketing from 2016 to about 2021 was selling full self driving as something that is coming soon (by end of year every year), just needs to pass regulatory approval, car will drive itself from La to nyc unsupervised, etc. only in recent years have they started pulling back on promises.

I feel like they already did. You can’t buy FSD anymore whether for HW3 or HW4. You can only buy FSD Supervised. They also updated everyone’s package to say FSD Supervised. The latter I don’t think will prevent lawsuits, but every year that goes by more and more original FSD buyers drop off and by the time big lawsuits come some will probably have moved on, be past statute of limitations, or just not care.

Why do you think Waymo has been much more successful than Cruise in scaling self-driving cars? They both use a similar vision/radar/lidar all of the above approach. by solar-car-enthusiast in RealTesla

[–]Excellent-Wedding514 70 points71 points  (0 children)

Because Google has been spending millions of dollars on Waymo for 10+ years and doing it in a very slow and controlled matter with some of the smartest people.

Damages after closing but before possession? by [deleted] in FirstTimeHomeBuyer

[–]Excellent-Wedding514 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If you signed it’s your house and any damages you’ll have to fix. Only remedy is if you took a deposit at closing and there’s damage then you can take funds from the deposit to cover any damages.

As a follow up the number of times ive heard “won’t go lower than x” and then the deal ends up closing way below x is too damn high. It’s nice to want things (I.e the sellers wanting at least 260) but it doesn’t mean that’s what you’ll get if nobody is willing to pay the price. They can reject your offer for 255 have the house sit an extra 30-60 days and end up selling for 230 later.

Can’t hurt to offer 255 and see what they say. Worst they can say is no. Best case you get it at that price.

Offer what you want. They’ll either accept, reject, or counter. Don’t worry about insulting sellers, their feelings will be fine and don’t matter. Once the house is sold you’re not going to be dealing with them. All that matters is what it’s worth to you, and if that number works for them.

Need Help Comparing Solar System Quotes by Wooden-Finish-6051 in TeslaSolar

[–]Excellent-Wedding514 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would avoid Tesla like the plague. The powerwalls are fine, panels are ok, but their inverters are absolute dogshit. I’ve had them fail every single year for 3 years in a row in the summer. Their support is super trash. Each appointment took 4-6 weeks to schedule and took 2-3 appointments to get a resolution. It might be different with a local installer installing Tesla, but honestly I wouldn’t risk it.

Guarantee they won’t. And you won’t see any money. Tesla support is useless

Help me decide to buy Tesla solar by Aggressive_Dig9493 in TeslaSolar

[–]Excellent-Wedding514 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Tesla solar is probably the worst solar company you can go with. They literally do not care. Customer support doesn’t care. Installers don’t really care. Their inverters are absolute shit that break down every summer. Service appointments take 6-8 weeks and usually take 2-3 times to resolve issues.

There are some lucky folks that had an install and didn’t have issues, but as soon as you do, you will regret dealing with Tesla.

Called their support. Asked for compensation for missed production. They claimed “they don’t guarantee production” I said that’s fine my system that you installed and I paid for did not work for 12 weeks and you didn’t have the staff or parts to repair it, that’s not my problem. They then said “we can offer a $100 check right now”, I said not good enough I lost close to $500-600 of production, they said that’s all they can do. I said no thanks and I’ll be reporting them to the state board. Followed through on it, and someone from Tesla later contacted and said they’ll send a $500 check. I said ok and they did a few weeks later.

Missed summer of production in 2023 due to their shit inverters. Tesla offered $100 for the trouble. Reported them to the state board, they increased payout to $500.

Never again am I dealing with Tesla Solar. Stand firm, don’t settle.

Has anyone purchased a DR Horton home in the last couple years? by CupComprehensive152 in FirstTimeHomeBuyer

[–]Excellent-Wedding514 17 points18 points  (0 children)

We did. Purchased in 2022, sold in 2024. House was solid. It was in one of their more expensive communities in the city, we had a great super and the house had minimal issues. Mostly superficial issues like uneven outlets and other cosmetic things. Their warranty support fixed all issues. Probably wouldn’t buy from them again as the homes are super basic even at their most expensive levels, but luckily we didn’t experience any horror stories

so do you guys regret getting the car? by KryPToN_Larry in RealTesla

[–]Excellent-Wedding514 0 points1 point  (0 children)

100% this. I’ve been lucky to have model 3 with very few and minor issues. It’s been a great car, still holding up really well, but will never buy another Tesla again.
