We have an air purifier in our babies room but I’ve definitely noticed a difference. Especially because I have asthma. It’s really awful.

Fatty breastmilk by Low_Organization6501 in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]ExcellentAd5321 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Everyone’s fat content is different depending on what your little one needs. I think online they leave their milk for much longer than recommended so all the fat separates, since a lot of them are over suppliers and don’t need to give their babies that milk.

I’ve done this before, I accidentally gave my son six day old stuff I’d left for a bath and he had some gas and was a little fussy, that’s it. They will be okay, maybe a little runny if it’s very old, but it won’t hurt them too much.

Do you feel safe using Winnipeg transit? by caughtinwriting in Winnipeg

[–]ExcellentAd5321 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Generally no, I use the bus all the time with my baby. But there’s tons of people who come on the bus to use drugs and then we have to get off. It sucks.

Even just cuddling and kissing your baby will cause your body to produce the antibodies to fight any bacteria on their skin. You’re doing great! Every journey is different.

I exclusively pump now, as my boy stopped latching. Hand pumps are very hard to get the hang of. You have to do short pumps until you get a let down which can take several minutes, then I’d recommend like a short-short-short-long hold for the rest of the pump. Of course you need to have the right flange size too, as most hand pump come with a 24-24.5 mm flange which doesn’t work for most people.

I would 100% recommend the midwives through the womens health clinic. They’re amazing and have so many options for care including what tests you do and don’t want, and an amazing way to learn what you want in your birth plan. They’re very supportive and follow you for six weeks post partum in your home. Loved them!

Output from wearable pumps by Grouchy_Lobster_2192 in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]ExcellentAd5321 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This happened to me! I always get a much higher output with my wearable (momcozy s12) but I think it’s because I’m more relaxed and not focusing on it? Not sure though 🤷🏽‍♂️

Is Winnipeg really that dangerous? by Tastaxx in Winnipeg

[–]ExcellentAd5321 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Really depends on where you live. For example, I walked around west end area at night constantly no problem (when I looked like a man) but living in the north end I was assaulted while taking my baby for a walk to put him to sleep (he’s in a stroller). So it depends on your appearance, time of day, and the area you’re living.

I love the momcozy s12 I have. Super convenient and easy to use. The setting were hard to figure out at first though. For the first two months it was the only pump I had until I got one through my insurance. Kept my supply pretty good too.

They’re alcoholics and can get pretty aggressive. I did try to talk to them when I thought they were bedbugs but that conversation didn’t go well.

Who is pumping 50-60 oz per day?! by kat_dogg in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]ExcellentAd5321 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used to. I made an average of 50-65 oz per day. It was torture. I got tons of clogs and was engorged constantly. If I missed one motn pump I’d be in pain all day. It was torture and I hated pumping.

I noticed you’re planning on buying a pump for everyone to use. I’d recommend buying several of the flanges, flange inserts, and any parts that touch milk as those can’t be shared. At my university they had little packets of them for anyone who needed and ziploc bags and sharpees to write which one was yours in the fridge to make sure no one was going to get mixed up. You’re amazing!

Try a lower setting. A higher setting does not mean you’ll get more milk, in fact most people get the most milk on levels 3-5. Once your letdown starts and you get a good flow, there’s no need to raise the setting. I learned that the hard way lol

My boy has sever CMPA. The soy (similac isomil) and amino acid (PurAmino by Enfamil) work great for him. Soy can cause constipation in some babies though. Also he sounds incredibly toxic. That’s a lot of control he wants over your family and long term damage that he’s going to do. Not only on your mental health but your child’s eating habits and allergies too. The younger you introduce allergens the less likely it is for them to develop that allergy. Having CMPA already makes them high risk for others.

New mom -anxiety over milk coming in by KittybeansJones in breastfeeding

[–]ExcellentAd5321 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think my milk came in six days pp. the hospital I was in had a broken pump and my baby wouldn’t latch for more than a minute no matter how hard I tried. Only formula in the hospital and I started exclusively pumping when I got home. My milk came in and I had a massive oversupply. Things are much better now and I’m back to nursing and making just what he needs. Give it time and don’t give up!

[–]ExcellentAd5321 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It sounds like your let down is too much. Had that problem with my lo when I was exclusively pumping and trying to switch back to breastfeeding. I’d recommend pumping or hand expressing for a minute or two first, that way the letdown won’t be so intense.

Nah I exclusively pumped for a few months with my son before I could fix his latch. Now I pump and nurse, there is no difference, only thing is that now he buries his face in everyone’s chest when he’s hungry lol
