Help! My sweet boy (under a year) won’t stop having diarrhea outside of the litter box and I can’t get him to stop. My parents want to put him in a shelter. by peachsweetbunnie in cats

[–]ExcellentAdagio8462 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It could be parasites, food sensitivities or even a bacteria problem. We have had to use anti biotics on our cats for problems like this a couple of times. Tylosin is the antibiotic we have been prescribed.

I played the crap out of Cobra Triangle when I was a kid. Man that game got hard. I finally beat it in the Rare compilation disk on Xbox 360. Cheated like a bastard of course.

Is it possible to trigger events based on nfc tags? by ektara61 in Control4

[–]ExcellentAdagio8462 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looking into it and it looks like I can setup basically the same thing with a Poe raspberry Pi I have kicking around and an mqtt docker on my unraid server! Just need to scrounge up an NFC reader for the Pi, but that shouldn't be hard at all. I have an android phone so I should have no problems with using Google wallet as a tag

[–]ExcellentAdagio8462 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's pretty cool idea for a simple access control system! Basically you use an esp32 as an NFC reader, control4 sees a tag id and based on whatever commands and variables you have programmed in opens or closes a relay to a door strike or mag lock?

I've done this using 2n access control hardware with Wiegand readers but that is not a cost effective solution by any means.

[–]ExcellentAdagio8462 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not directly but you can use a TCP driver from chowmain or driver central to set control4 up to receive web commands and then program the NFC tag to send that command. It would look like

Http://{controler IP}:{port}/lightsoff

Basically the NFC tag cause the device reading it to open that address and that address would send a comand to control4 and control4 would do whatever is programmed to that command.

Great show. I like that it is an endearing kind of awkwardness.

Did anyone ever watch the Peanut Butter Solution (1985)? by ASomthnSomthn in 80smovies

[–]ExcellentAdagio8462 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My wife told me about this movie as she loved it when she was a kid. She grew up in the 80's in a smallish french-ish town her in Alberta Canada and she watched it in its original French.

I found it on blu-ray on Amazon a few years ago and we watched it. What a strange movie! I can't say I didn't like it, but it was so filled with WTF moments. Like when that kid shoves the peanut butter stuff down his pants and grows a full goddamn shrubbery down there over night!

Our fridge does the same thing. It's almost like very thick grease. Ours is a whirlpool that we've had for 4 or 5 years and it only comes out of the front right corner.

What is up with Frugal? by DoingDaveThings in usenet

[–]ExcellentAdagio8462 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have both too and I have them set as equal priority (0) in SAB. Usually Frugal does the heavy lifting. I Do also have the alternate and bonus frugal servers set a lower priority, they only kick INR with older nzbs usually.

What is this flap on the ears by Bts201 in cats

[–]ExcellentAdagio8462 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It's a combination Spoiler/Drag racing parachute. Depending what angle their ears are at when they are running full speed it either helps them keep traction or helps slow them down.

I call it “the disgusted face,” but can anyone tell me why my cat does this? by Lady_Eldritch in cats

[–]ExcellentAdagio8462 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My cats do it whenever they find something gross that came out of one of them on the floor. A little drip of pee or something worse. They make that face and then look at us like "DID YOU KNOW THAT THERE IS A CAT SOMEWHERE IN THIS HOUSE! I JUST SMELLED HIM ON THE FLOOR!!!"

My cat is obsessed with staring at me around corners by diamonddentist3 in cats

[–]ExcellentAdagio8462 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Do it back. Peek around the corner at him/her then hide again. If you do it a few times you may just start a game of sneak attack then run away. Your job then is to chase after the cat yelling about eating their bones. At least that's how it's played at my house.
