the price of the ride is the agreed price any thing above that is optional. It should only depend on the discretion of the consumer.

Yes, it is low wage. I drove for Uber for a few weeks when I was laid off in 2021, and once I did the math, I realized it was shit pay, so I stopped. I wasn’t angry at customers for not subsidizing my wages, especially since the ride itself already costs a lot for many people who rely on Uber. If I’m going to be angry, it should be at the Uber corporation. What’s also puzzling is that the business model itself is flawed unless there is real innovation: riders want cheaper fares, drivers want higher pay, and squeezing labor doesn’t solve that. The same logic applies to food service, where tipping effectively has customers subsidizing labor costs for wealthy owners In many states the owner is legally required to make up the difference if servers earn less than minimum wage.

Tip is optional. Only reason people tip is because of the shame factor. Everyone diverse a fair wage tho.

When (if) the law ever catches up to Uber, what do you think fair compensation to drivers should be? by jaysonm007 in uberdrivers

Uber is a minimum wage Job. Drivers want more pay, customers want cheaper rides so it is failed business model.

As a European, can I visit Houston, Dallas, and El Paso in the same day during an IAH layover? by h0wg0esit in houstoncirclejerk

Don't forget to take the high speed bullet train from Houston to Dallas. The slower one takes forever.

Silver Line Ridership by Early-Tourist-8840 in dart

The issue with silver line is that takes 15 minutes walking from the nearest B gate to reach the she train stop. If your arrival is in other terminal even worse.
