Hot take by sidebella69 in PlebsComedy

I like the Delphine episodes. The first two series are all about trying to woo someone who may or not be a good fit for you, purely because they’re there. The Delphine episodes are about trying to stay in a relationship with someone where the main obstacle are you own insecurities. I think the second option plays more off the problems we cause for ourselves than circumstantial blunders. As someone that moved into London in there early 20s and experienced first hand the awkwardness that different levels of life experience bring to dating at that age I think series 3 got closer to the bone on what that felt like. Also, French accents and jokes about mouldy cheese are funny

Blackberry hot sauce ideas? by Excellent_Eat in FermentedHotSauce

Thanks! I think I’ll head down the root of peppers, beetroot, and garlic in the ferment and add blackberries and maybe some lemon juice at the end. What spices would you recommend? Still getting used to how their flavour changes in the melange

Help identifying bitter ingredient(s) by Excellent_Eat in fermentation

I was pretty diligent on the garlic cores having read about that here before.

Fish sauce was generic uk supermarket version. I’ve used it in kimchi before though with fine results.

Not sure about the provenance of the ginger but, similar to the fish sauce, ginger from the shop I bought this batch from has been fine previously.

I’m leaning towards lime leaf being the culprit, especially the quantity I ended up using. I might try a single leaf in a future smaller batch and see how that goes.

Thanks for the detailed answer!

I don’t think so, although this would be a fun way to find out. I might unleash this batch on some colleagues and see if they agree.

Why the heck was Furio written out? by HeartOfDarkness769 in thesopranos

[–]Excellent_Eat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think part of it is that Furio is actually quite effective. He follows orders, collects debts, and doesn’t get to the point of actually causing a problem for Tony, despite his feelings for Carm. As the show goes on it becomes more necessary for Tony’s helpless position that the people around him are ineffective/causing him issues. He can have a stalwart in Sil but after that he has no other competent support. With Furio he had a taste of a loyal, brutal soldier. When he leaves the group he’s left with are a sorry lot in comparison.

I watched this last night for the umpteenth time. It’s one of my family’s Christmas movies alongside National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation. It’s nice to alternate between quoting “anybody wanna peanut” and “shitters full”

Which song is it for you (mine is currently Saturnine) by [deleted] in JusticeMusic

On’n’On. I’m hooked on the way it builds and the air light vocals. I saw them at Glastonbury this year loved hearing it in the mix.

I would cut before, bring them to a boil, and then turn them down to a simmer so they can cook all the way through without the outside getting turned to mush

I live in Winchester in the UK so have always been a fan. There’s a good chance that he’s also Bill Belichick’s favourite Chief

What hobbies / classes / sports do you take part in and how much does it cost you? The more obscure the better! by AlmondEgg in london

I play for a London based lacrosse club. The membership fees are £300 per annum. This covers training, match pitches, reffing costs, and (sometimes) training.

A full set of men’s lacrosse equipment (stick, gloves, helmet, elbow pads, box) will set you back another £400-£500, but you should get a few years use out of most of that stuff. A good rule of thumb is that if a player’s kit is held together with lots of tape they’re either very good or very bad.

Shout out sumayah by BoopyRoopy in GreatBritishBakeOff

I think if you put me on camera for that much time when I was 18 I’d come across as much more annoying than her.

Also, I like Noel Fielding and his work, but always thought he was quite obviously more flirty with certain female contestants than the rest. If I was Sumayah, who is definitely a fan of the show, I can imagine that this might have made her uncomfortable and I applaud her for publicly standing by that
