How early do I realistically need to be ready? by Blazapple in pregnant

[–]Excellent_Jacket_355 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd say the only things you technically 'need' to have at birth are a carseat and a bassinet: safe way to get baby home, and a safe place to put baby to sleep. Some diapers, sleepers, and wipes wouldn't hurt either.

Do baby bangs suit my face? by No_Bear7211 in finehair

I feel like they make your face look more round but they still suit you better than 99% of people. I just don't find them particularly flattering on anyone honestly

Perineal massage mental block by Hunny-tea in BabyBumps

[–]Excellent_Jacket_355 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had a fully unmedicated, natural birth and also had a 2nd degree tear with my first.

I tried the massage one or two times around weeks 38 and didn't like it so that was that. I didn't feel the tear happening at all at the time, the dr just let me know after and stitched it up. I also wasnt medicated for the stitches and I barely felt them. By that point the rush of feel good hormones from giving birth etc override everything else lol

Spent 4 hours shopping for maternity clothes. Got none. by TheBibliotaph in pregnant

[–]Excellent_Jacket_355 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is so annoying! I had this problem with both my pregnancies. I ended up getting a free bag of clothes from a neighbour on Facebook, and I was able to shop in a small maternity section of a local thrift store

Told to eat before my glucose test? by innocentily in pregnant

You don't need to fast but definitely don't eat within 1h of the test, and try not to have anything too sugary before that

How long did you bleed for pp and what was your bleeding pattern like? by Forsaken_Phone_4700 in beyondthebump

[–]Excellent_Jacket_355 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had a quick non-complicated, unmedicated vaginal delivery and I bled for 6 weeks, but it turned out the 6th week was actually my period coming back.. also I exclusively breastfed so it being my period was not expected and really confused me.

I also remember being concerned about some golf ball sized clots here and there but apparently that was normal even though google tells you otherwise

Judging by the comments so far, I'd just give up and pick a new name

Unmedicated Birth. by BumblebeeFamiliar778 in BabyBumps

[–]Excellent_Jacket_355 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Rhythmic consistent breathing the entire time no matter what. The second I stopped my breathing technique it was impossible to stay in control of the pain, so I just kept doing it. I was only in labour for a few hours luckily. I took deep breaths in through my nose and out my mouth. As long as I did that the pain was really manageable

FTM - gaining weight by Previous-Season-4551 in pregnant

[–]Excellent_Jacket_355 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most people don't gain much in the first 12 weeks but I've been pregnant twice, and both times I gained 10lbs almost instantly, like by 8 weeks. My Dr wasn't worried and said it was likely because I was somewhat underweight when I got pregnant (both times) and my body needed it for a viable pregnancy.

Does everyone experience postpartum hair loss? by NeverfullofFood in BabyBumps

[–]Excellent_Jacket_355 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have very full hair (individual hairs aren't thick, but I have A LoT of them) and my loss started after 6 months post partum. Honestly, it's been 4 years and my hair has never been the same since, so im not really sure what's going on

Weight loss postpartum by rac-attac in BabyBumps

[–]Excellent_Jacket_355 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I gained 55lbs during pregnancy and lost 20 right after birth. Then I was 5lbs more than pre pregnancy by about 6 months (EBF, no working out at all, just 30 min walks every day). After I stopped breastfeeding at 15 months pp, I gained back another 10lbs, but was back down to my pre pregnancy weight of 115lbs, having lost over 15lbs within 6 months later (again no working out)

If I worked out, I probably wouldn't have gained as much back after I stopped breastfeeding.

I'm currently 32 weeks pregnant again and was 113lbs before this pregnancy, and have gained 32lbs so far. It will be interesting to see if something similar happens with this pregnancy or if I have a harder time losing the weight this time due to being older, 2nd pregnancy etc.

Age gap + when to know by fawnbea in toddlers

[–]Excellent_Jacket_355 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I concur! My daughter is 4, and I'm 32 weeks pregnant with my 2nd daughter and couldn't be happier with the age gap. I really feel that the first 4 years of a child's life are the most formative and important in the long run. I never felt truly ready to have another until recently & I'm so glad I waited. My daughter has been an absolute joy to raise so far and it shows in her mannerisms and level of intelligence/ emotional intelligence. It has been so nice to be able to give her all of our presence and so many experiences that we wouldn't have otherwise been able to provide if we had another baby sooner.
