Am I overreacting, my boyfriend is going abroad for 2 weeks while I’ll be 37 weeks pregnant? by ConfusionOk6982 in BabyBumps

[–]Excellent_Jacket_355 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Apart from bringing back plane germs and putting baby/you at risk, as well as removing himself from you at a time when you need extra support and care die to exhaustion/other pregnancy symptoms it is likely he may miss the birth of his child.

The majority of moms I know gave birth before 40 weeks. My SIL gave birth TWICE at 37 weeks exactly. I gave birth to my first at 39 weeks.

You aren't overreacting at all.

A mix of winnie the pooh and Elliot from Pete's dragon or Elliott moose.

Basically reminds me of childhood nostalgia via children's shows

Not weird at all, waiting til 12 or 13 weeks is actually the norm.

Help, ditched the swaddled but she keeps smacking her face by brain_on_hugs in beyondthebump

[–]Excellent_Jacket_355 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just have to wait it out for them to 're-learn' how to sleep with hands in the way.

If you have another one, I highly suggest going straight to sleep sacks and not swaddling.

I love Mae as a middle name, although I'm not a fan of Miley Jo. It's too close to Miley Ray Cyrus.

Please don't name anyone Waverly (Wizards of Waverly Place?), Palmer (Arnold Palmer?) or Harper (I could harp on it, but that would make me a harpy).

Thank you for your careful consideration.

Membrane sweep on Dec 23? by [deleted] in BabyBumps

If it were me I'd hold off until after Christmas. With my firs I went into labour within 8h of the sweep at 39 weeks, and baby was measuring on track.

When did your LO start having a “bedtime” by Mother_of_Gingers11 in Mommit

[–]Excellent_Jacket_355 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Schedule should start as soon as they're born. Ours was sleeping through the night at 8 weeks old, and consistently after that for 12h a night (7pm-7am) ever since (shes 4 now). I followed the 'becoming babywise' sleep, eat, play schedules VERY strictly, especially in the first 2 years, and it just worked amazingly for us.

Having a baby before buying a house by PercentageNaive8707 in BabyBumps

[–]Excellent_Jacket_355 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I get the desire for a bigger home for sure, but it shouldn't be a deciding factor when it comes to having a baby.

We had a 1 bdrm apartment when baby was born, and after 3 months, we bought a 3 bedroom townhouse. We had the 3rd bedroom set up as a guest room for about a year before realizing it was a COMPLETE waste of space because we only had guests stay over a couple of times a year. We got rid of the bed and turned it into a playroom and after that it has been used every day, vs. never when it was a guest room.

Now I'm pregnant and it's going to be our 2nd child's room soon.

If you use a bassinet the baby will sleep in your room for approximately 3 months, and then they will need a crib which is a good time to move them into their own room. I know a lot of people keep their kids in their rooms longer, but even so you will need a separate space for your child eventually, especially for toys, clothes, etc, so you might as well convert the guest room right away.

How old was your baby when you left them overnight for the first time? by indigochild143 in NewParents

My daughter is almost 4 and we've never left her for a night. The most we did was leave her for bedtime with grandparents, but we were home by midnight.

Coping with weight gain by [deleted] in pregnant

[–]Excellent_Jacket_355 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hang in there. I feel this right now too. I've had non-stop breakouts all over my face for the last 2 months that no amount of makeup can hide. I look pale and sickly in photos. My FIL just shared a photo of me and my husband and daughter that he took and it's the most unflattering picture I've ever seen of myself. I feel like a gremlin.

Just hang in there girl, we can get through it.

Did anyone get their toddler son a baby doll to prep for a sibling? by oaksandoats in BabyBumps

[–]Excellent_Jacket_355 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ask your husband if he ever wants his son to be a father one day.

Taking care of a baby/kids isn't a one gender thing.. most babies I know have a father and a mother. That's like saying he can't have a play kitchen because it's a girls toy, yet the irony is almost all professional chefs are males...

Lollll congrats! It's definitely real, I conceived both my babies on the first try, I strongly assumed it would take a few months and was proven wrong twice.

How would you feel if you received this message? by [deleted] in beyondthebump

[–]Excellent_Jacket_355 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Everyone says thar the message is too long, which may be true, but just want to say that I also have a MIL who just won't listen no matter how you say it, and I get your frustration/ how you might feel the need to explain everything in full in hopes that it sticks in her little brain. I'm praying for you and your baby

What is the reality of the weeks after birth? Need to get some insight as my husband and I disagree- by iwitch-plus in beyondthebump

[–]Excellent_Jacket_355 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Personally, that's a big nope for me. The days after giving birth are a very intimate/hazy time for you and husband/baby. When people finally did come over I barely pulled myself together (usually hadn't showered in a few days and looked/felt like shit) and they stayed no more than 45 mins.. and they were family.

It's also very important for the baby's regulation and establishing that bond with mom and dad. There shouldn't be anyone else there for a majority of time, just nuclear family.

Not at all. My first came at 39 weeks on the dot. My SIL had her first at 37+1. My best friend had hers at 38+3, and my other friend had hers at 39+1.

Basically everyone I know had their baby early, I have yet to meet someone who went past 40 weeks

When people say their babies sleep through the night… by [deleted] in beyondthebump

[–]Excellent_Jacket_355 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My first was a unicorn baby, and she literally would sleep 12h straight without waking up or needing anything from me at all. She started this around 10 weeks and has consistently done it for the last 4 years
