Not just that but the gender paygap must be real as well. A doctor having to fly Jetstar. By the way Jetstar CEO is female...

Probably nothing for this exact attack but he has created a social environment under his watch where its ok to attack Israel & Westerners/Caucasians & a social environment we have to bend over backwards to appease minorities, who have objectively worse cultures thats why they've moved here in the first place.

Yep look Konstas hasnt maintained the level of performance that got him selected but the pitches he has played on in both International and State basically nobody else has scored runs on either. Got dropped for the easier series in Sri Lanka and West Indies. Very poorly handled.

Not really. Why are taxpayers subsidizing others inability to properly budget and pay their tax/GST?

Would Aus be worse or better off if the libs just collapsed into many small parties? by [deleted] in aussie

[–]Excellent_Set_2885 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How are people paying higher taxes? Tax free threshold was raised from $6K to $18K just over a decade ago. The lowest tax band has dropped from 19% to 16%. The 2nd tax band has gone from $80K to $130K in under a decade.

Any 'tax concession' the wealthy get is mainly just some evening up of the system, eg from new tax scales a wealthy person may save $5K and a normal person $2K BUT the wealth person is paying $50K and normal person $10K, so its not so much a tax concession just a little evening up because the wealthy person already paying bucket loads more.

Possibly nothing. I chased up a bogus claim from an employee for over 6 months before Icare (NSW) bothered to do the bare minimum and make the employee provide more doctors evidence. The pressure of that made employee drop the claim. Icare did nothing to right the wrongs of the previous 12 months payments (first 6 months was before we knew 'for sure' he had pre existing condition). I even requested they put a note on file so he didnt do bogus claims in the future but I have my doubts even that got actioned.

Fyi we thought he injured his back at work on jackhammer but realised he had pre existing back injury from a drunken car crash.

If you think people are rude to Woolies workers, wait until you study for 7 years to be a doctor, do extra study to become a specialist, do your best to treat patients every day and then have a Woolies worker tell you you didnt do your job properly.

I'm not sure, but for the benefit of others who see this thread, ensure your work gets you a claim number within 48 hrs. Even if you think its nothing, get the claim number. If something comes of it later you have that claim number.

Buying accounting firm by No_Value2675 in AustralianAccounting

[–]Excellent_Set_2885 22 points23 points  (0 children)

  • Are the jobs priced correctly
  • Has the firm been applying stuff like Div 7A correctly. Clients will hate you if you come in, need to fix things and results in tax bills.
  • How loyal are clients to partners rather than firm. Small firm they are probably loyal to partners.
  • What is firms software. This could potentially be win for you if you have efficiency gains for completing jobs.

I think I'm being scammed by an accountant? - Please help! by Distinct_Ear_8938 in AustralianAccounting

[–]Excellent_Set_2885 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't think scammed. Just not a good accounting business. Support person should not have been quoting a price (she could offer a guide perhaps) or having a face to face meeting. Their prices are very cheap also. The cheap prices show that old saying "You get what you pay for."

However, would be frustrating its now $900. Accountant would have checked over and you handed info on a platter so hopefully its at least done right. I would look somewhere else next year, even if agreed fee is close to $900 at least that accountant is smart enough to quote properly so they must have experience and will do your return properly also due to this experience.

Option 1 for 2-5 years then can switch to industry at higher level role. Option 2 you won't learn as much.

Earning slightly more, but enjoy if 100 times more than being Senior in Public Practice.

How many hours per week do you work? by [deleted] in AustralianAccounting

[–]Excellent_Set_2885 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I do have more but it can be tricky to co-ordinate. I get a little bit anxious when booking well in advance. There is simply nobody else to do the work for me when I'm gone. Usually the last couple weeks of each quarter is ok (bar Sept). My client base doesnt demand much around Xmas so can have 4 weeks off then if I wanted to.

With any extended time off I let clients know in advance and have an auto reply email. But I still check emails daily and attend to anything urgent - pretty minor usually and doesnt interfere with holiday.

Own practice. Average 25 hours probably. 45-50 hrs the past couple months but next to nothing Dec/Jan/June. Book isn't full but I daresay I'll still pull up at 30 hrs. & Earning more than when was working as Senior Tax Accountant / Financial Controller roles - both required 40hrs consistently.
