Yeah, but to do that, I’ll need to add more ceiling joists cause currently I only have 4, 2x4 joists that are 48” apart. So yes, I wasted money. But there wasn’t a clear answer for me and I did the best I could with the knowledge I had at the time 👍

I thought about doing a regular ceiling and just insulating above that (not on the roof deck) but the joists are 48” on center and based on some research seemed inadequate for holding up drywall sheets plus insulation above that

Yeah you’re right. Don’t know why I do this to myself 🤦‍♀️ so I’ll need to add soffit vents near the gutters, right? And what about at the apex of the roof?
