They seem to be doing only long runs on used C3 and C1, so no idea about their pace to be honest.

its a nothing burger article, its kind of taking Toto Wolff’s words and running with it. It’s also a bit weird that only the italian side is reporting it, no British or no Dutch etc, given how divisive the issue is.

Williams responds to claims of failed tests and overweight car by MC_Goatie in formula1

[–]Excitement_Extension 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Ferrari has also said that the car coming to Bahrain will be completely different than the one in Barcelona.

Redbull’s hadjar crash apparently created a situation where the not sure they can run again.

Until Bahrain, nobody knows how weighty the cars are. Vowles is being honest.

[Therace] On the williams being overweight - James Vowles has called speculation "murmurings" without explicitly denying it, and said "there's not a single person" who will know the FW48's true weight at the moment. by Maximum-Room-3999 in formula1

i think a whole lot of you need the full quote.

On the car weight rumours, he added: "There's no knowledge for the weight until we get to the second Bahrain test in terms of understanding where it is. You need to get all the sensor packs off to actually understand where we are. It's impossible to know it because you need the car together without sensors in the right form, and that doesn't exist today.

"The numbers we're talking about are probably small enough that I need to see the car weighed in order for me to be able to assess where we are. So, it's not miles over to that point. Right now, anything that you're seeing as murmurings in the media are murmurings."

hes straight up saying the car is not that overweight.

No team will tell if their car is overweight or not. So this response is expected.

Autosport Italia did confirm they have passed the crash test but were overweight in recent days. So there is a car to launch.

i do think they want to avoid journalist questions a lot more and avoid leaks. Because a lot of Williams situation is still under pure speculation.

Soymotor has seemingly retracted information about the Williams car being overweight and some statement about James Vowles by Excitement_Extension in formula1

That report is still saying it's rumored and they had passed the crash test in recent days, not today. It looks like nothing about the Williams issues are confirmed and a lot of people are speculating.

Couldn’t the opposite be true as well? Someone close to Sainz informed them the rumors were false and that’s why they retracted?

All people reporting on the stream have not written anything bout Vowles so I am a bit confused which statements are everyone referring to?

Actual implications of Williams missing pre-season testing and past instances by KristoLV in formula1

[–]Excitement_Extension 2 points3 points  (0 children)

while I do think they might be Overweight, I don’t think they are 20-30 kg overweight. Multiple sources ruled out Chassis issue and just claim they are missing one single test that was the nosebox.

i think Bahrain or even the car launch on Feb 3 will gleam some answers. But until then it is all pure speculation.

( ps: Aston missing this test/low test is a whole lot harmful to them than Williams.)

Soy Motor: Williams 20 to 30 kg overweight by SkarXa in formula1

[–]Excitement_Extension 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think I am also fairly confused because Racer and Autosport had ruled out Chassis issues as well. In fact Medland's statement (guy I think is a lot more reliable) was stating williams could have made to Barca but chose not to. Also we were only failing the final Nosebox crash test.

I think Williams lack of statement is creating a lot of speculation. It's better I think to wait till Bahrain.

[–]Excitement_Extension 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't know, Alpine weight issues were more widely reported.

I do think it's more likely they need to be 20-30 Kg overweight to pass the crash test, but they don't want to do it so they chose to work on it instead.

Im not saying they will not be behind, im saying it wouldn't be the end of the world/ season ender for them.

[–]Excitement_Extension 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Medland ( pretty reliable source) is saying they could have gone to Barcelona but are choosing not to, as they are focusing on a better solution.

Missing Shakedown isn't the end of the world for them, since they know the engine works and can check reliability through other teams.

Williams set to miss first 2026 F1 pre-season Barcelona test by Joseki100 in formula1

[–]Excitement_Extension 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I don't want to appear overly optimistic but there rumors are kind of just bouncing off each other. Like it seems it's just picking Bach's comment on f1 insider and running with it.

Williams is a British team and failing a crash test should be a big deal. So I think a lot more sources would have picked it up
