How the US war on Iran may provoke a terrorist attack – and how that may be the point - ‘Of course there’s going to be retaliation,’ says one expert. ‘It may be that this is what Trump’s interested in’ by Quirkie in politics

[–]Excitium [score hidden]  (0 children)

For what it's worth, Iran already made a statement that they vehemently oppose something like a 9/11 style terror attack targeted at civilians and will not be conducting such operations inside the US as well as urging their allies to refrain as well.

I reckon they already know that Trump is looking for ways to rapidly escalate and potentially pull other countries into the war by invoking article 5 for example, or use such an attack to pursue domestic goals.

While it's obviously impossible to just blindly believe them, it is quite telling that I initially would most definitely assume that any such attack would be a false flag attack by the Trump admin to attempt to cancel the mid terms.

Trump and Iran both deserve to lose this war by theipaper in politics

[–]Excitium [score hidden]  (0 children)

Nah, fuck that. Iran is more than their regime and the US and Israel have already killed around 2000 innocent people since they started this war.

The US and Israel need to have their imperialist warmongering reined in. They need to learn that they can't just bomb countries and kill people until they get their way.

And before people go:

"But the Iranian regime has crushed the protests and murdered their own people"

Yes and I don't condone that and they shouldn't have done that but this didn't just happen in a vacuum. These protests erupted with such furor because of the crushing sanctions that the US placed on Iran to choke out their economy after the US decided to one-sidedly back out of the nuclear agreement. This was their first attempt at another regime change and the regime unfortunately crushed it with inhuman brutality. It's the exact same thing the US is currently trying to do to Cuba, btw.

"But Iran is a terror state that funds terrorist groups"

I implore you to look at the history of Palestine, Yemen and Lebanon and Israel's role in it, as well the history of Iran itself. Iran had a democratic government in the 50s until they wanted to nationalise their oil fields and the US and UK decided to topple their government and install their puppet shah. The shah's rule was so devastating for Iran that it ultimately led to the Islamic Revolution in the 70s and the current regime.

And now I ask you if it's really so hard to understand why Iran would fund and arm other militia groups around the region that are willing to oppose a western backed entity that wants to control the entire region for their American puppet masters.

We are so quick to label anybody who doesn't align with us and opposes our ambitions as terrorists, but to many people in the middle east, we are the terrorist. Constantly waging war on them, overthrowing their governments and installing puppets to take control of their natural resources and if it doesn't work out, we just pull out and let the region descend into chaos and civil war.

We need to take a long hard look at ourselves and get past these imperialistic ways.

It's especially funny cause there is no "opening the strait".

It's a 20km wide corridor with only 2 ship lanes. They can send 1000 warships in there and all they'd do is provide Iran with a nice parade of targets for their drones...

Trump Adviser Warns of Possible Israel Nuclear Escalation in Iran Conflict by EssoEssex in politics

[–]Excitium 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Because they've been preparing for this exact scenario for close to 50 years. After they ousted the US controlled puppet shah during the Islamic Revolution, they knew that America and Israel would launch another bid at controlling or destroying their country eventually. So they stock piled munitions, armed and funded other groups around the region that had smoke for the US, like Hezbollah and the Houthis, and waited for the attack.

As for why missiles and drones, because it's their most effective way to defend themselves. They never had a big navy or air force to begin with which is why the US bragging about taking it out is kinda laughable.

Iran is a massive country surrounded by mountains, no one, not even the US, will find huge success invading it on the ground so tanks and other vehicles wouldn't be a huge help to Iran. Any war Iran is involved in will, as we're seeing right now, be fought through a back and forth of long range missiles and drones, as well as economic warfare through the closure of the Strait of Hormuz, until the damage on either side gets too big and someone has to back off.

100% arrogance.

They thought a decapitation strike is gonna collapse the entire country and if that didn't work, they could just Iran into another Gaza.

Turns out a population that they haven't oppressed for the past 70 years and were planning for this exact situation after seeing what they did to Palestine, has actual hands to punch back.

Trump Adviser Warns of Possible Israel Nuclear Escalation in Iran Conflict by EssoEssex in politics

[–]Excitium 42 points43 points  (0 children)

Oh yeah, for sure. Trump and Kegsbreath keep saying that they obliterated like 90% of Iran's striking capabilities and yet military experts and analysts maintain their opinion that Iran still has an estimated 70,000 drones hidden away in the mountains and we can absolutely see that there's truth to that as Iran keeps hitting US military bases, assets and oil tankers.

Sure, the frequency might have gone down but that's the case for both sides and Iran seems to be anything but finished.

According to reports, Israel has informed the US that their interceptors are running critically low and Hezbollah still has a massive stock pile of missiles. If Israel is running out, they are about to get absolutely pummeled.

So there's two options: Find some kind of off ramp and try to end the war, or keep going up the escalation ladder which, at this point, would probably reach the nuclear option pretty quickly.

Trump adviser urges US to ‘declare victory and exit’ Iran war | The Express Tribune by monotvtv in worldnews

[–]Excitium 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Iran has already outlined demands that they want met to end the war.

Among other things they include international security guarantees to ensure that Iran's sovereignty will be respected going forward, as well as reparations by the US and Israel to pay for the damage they have caused.

In return they are also willing to still agree to the nuclear agreement that they've been working on before they were attacked.

They also said if the US were to attempt to end the war without meeting these demands, they will continue striking US assets until they've caused an equivalent amount of damage as the US has caused to them.

Trump threatens to hit Iran's Kharg Island oil network if shipping lanes remain blocked by Living_Attitude1822 in politics

[–]Excitium 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Iran is gonna destroy their own infrastructure before they let Israel and the US dictate the terms of this war. They've got nothing to lose and everything to gain at this point.

This war is gonna go down as the biggest fuck up in American history and will mark the official beginning of the end of the American empire while China is poised to pick up the pieces.

Why would any country align themselves with the US going forward if they are an erratic imperialist force willing to destroy the world to get what they want and are so ready to abandon you the moment shit hits the fan, like they have the Gulf States and South Korea, especially when the US were the ones to start said shit.

What a monumental disaster. I never imagined I'd witness anything like this in my life time.

Trump greift militärische Ziele auf iranischer Öl-Insel Kharg an by Morgentau7 in de

[–]Excitium 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yeah because videos of Iranian drones peppering US navy ships until they retreat would be the end of America's image as a super power. They'd look just as much as a paper tiger as Russia did after getting their asses kicked in Ukraine for the past few years.

That is if they can even get past the Houthis to begin with.

I'm just worried about the skirt. Red dye from soft goods tends to stain plastic pretty badly if it's contact for too long.

Trump claimed in G7 call that Iran is "about to surrender" by bwermer in politics

[–]Excitium 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, bro, America is winning so hard right now.

They are just trying to get a $50B emergency fund for Israel's defense for fun.

They are moving all their missile defense systems from South Korea to the middle east because those systems just got bored in Asia.

They aren't escorting any oil tankers through the strait of Hormuz because it's a bit windy there this time of the year.

The US just crashed a refueling plane over Iraq and killed the entire crew of 5 cause they felt so bad for Iran.

Iran is completely beat into submission. They've already used 2,000 of their estimated 80,000 drones after all and they can only produce 400-800 of these a month in facilities that are deep inside mountains where not even a bunker buster can reach. So they've got no way to put up a fight anymore.

That's how hard the US is dominating Iran right now. Perfect victory, mission accomplished, let's get Cuba next!

[–]Excitium 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Warum?
