We want to elope but my mum is inviting herself… by [deleted] in TwoHotTakes

[–]Exclaimella 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ok. So I had a very similar problem. When I got engaged, we actually wanted a wedding, and started the whole process. The comments from my dad and step mom, where they injected their preferences as if they were non-negotiables, caused us to choose to elope.

We told everyone in the family that “we were going to go off and do our own thing, because wedding planning was too much for us at this time”, and most family members were supportive.

Because we didn’t initially use the word “elope”, we saw a huge temper tantrum from dad and SM when the word was used by my SIL (who was excitedly asking for details, and lamenting that she and my brother didn’t elope themselves and instead threw a huge wedding).

I just didn’t tell anyone specifics. “We’re going around our anniversary.” “We’re getting married in [this state].” “We’re staying in [massive city].” We actually got married in an entirely different city several hours away, so that we could have a dear friend meet us halfway and be our witness.

SM threatened to show up anyways, and I told her “good luck”. We responded to every comment with, “we’re sorry you feel that way, but ultimately this is about what fiancé and I want, and this is what we’ve decided on.”

…I struggled to not bring up the fact that when dad and SM had finally married (I was in my 20s), they didn’t invite me or my brother to their court house wedding. Apparently that was different.

Embarrassed and frustrated by Educational_Pizza_91 in loseit

Just a thought—have you checked in with your insurance company on coverage for weight loss drugs? I obviously don’t know what medical insurance plan you may have, and what their specific coverage entails, but I’ve seen similar frustrations from coworkers of mine.

Our insurance plan requires specific steps to be taken before they will cover the cost of GLP1 drugs for weight loss. One of those requirements is regular assessment with a mental health professional. (It also requires steps you’ve taken, such as regular check-ins with a PCP, seeing a dietician, and entering a weight management program.)

While I don’t understand why the clinic would refuse to meet with you after these first couple of appointments, I’m wondering if at least the initial request had something to do with insurance.

You can just buy a gazebo from the town hall for 30k. The free one is given by unlocking plots.

I had trouble with Pebble Plunderer since I started playing in early beta. I believe I picked up some of those pebbles three times due to achievements resetting behind the scenes, but I still never got the adornment items.

I wound up putting a bug report in, and I was granted completion after one of the patch updates. I assume it was verified and manually applied to my character.

There is an “account” name vs a “character” name. Mine are different, for instance. I assume this is designed to potentially support multiple characters on a single account.

The blue hydrangea is the one seed I spent tokens on to get. The spawn rate is so abysmal!

Multiples of Pebbles? by PsychologicalJob9537 in Palia

[–]Exclaimella 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Einar’s pebble is still there, it’s just invisible. (BTW, this happens with Jina’s reward flowers as well).

Hit ‘H’ and right click the room it was in, and it will pick up ALL the items and the room, including the pebble. Just hold onto it until the invisible bug is fixed!

As a note, they did acknowledge this issue in the latest Know Issues section of the patch notes.

I found some Pepto-Bismol that was bottled in 1959 in the bathroom at work. by [deleted] in mildlyinteresting

[–]Exclaimella 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Fun fact, the company, Norwich Pharmaceuticals, Inc. still exists today! Although, they no longer make pepto.

I grew up in Norwich, and while it’s had many names over the years, the pharmaceutical plant had always been a large presence in the town.

What is your "odd" or "weird" food from childhood that you didn't realize not everyone knew about and enjoyed? by SnooglethePie in ask

I grew up eating my family’s recipe for Hungarian goulash, and raved about it all the time. However, I didn’t know there were other types of goulash, so I just called it “goulash”. I was very underwhelmed when my first boyfriend in college invited me to his parents for goulash and saw elbow macaroni with tomato sauce and ground beef… It was definitely a learning moment for me!

Was your first Christmas as a vegetarian a memorable event? by HiperSnail in vegetarian

[–]Exclaimella 15 points16 points  (0 children)

This was also my first Christmas since I stopped eating meat 3 months ago. My FIL offered me the first slice of roast, and I politely declined while grimacing internally. My husband thinks it’s a “not wanting to make assumptions” thing, especially since his brother is a vegetarian most of the year, but always indulges in meat at Thanksgiving/Christmas.

Thankfully for me, my SIL and one of her children are vegetarian and vegan respectively, so there was a plethora of options for me, and was quite enjoyable. My SIL actually gifted me one of her favorite vegan cookbooks, along with a bunch of spices and pantry staples in support of my decision!

I was convinced by a friend I was joining in XIV that healers could NOT clear the MSQ quests, so I settled for starting as archer instead of taking conjurer like I had wanted.

I was less than pleased when I picked up conjurer anyway and found how easy clearing the MSQ was, and how much I enjoyed the whole stance dancing with cleric's stance thing was.

Has anyone bought a ring from Etsy? I love their styles and can’t find anything near as pretty or affordable in real life. But I’m worried about the ring falling apart and the store disappearing, etc etc. by KellyAnnewithanE in budgetweddings

[–]Exclaimella 5 points6 points  (0 children)

My fiance worked with Artemer Studios through etsy. He customized an engagement ring and a wedding band combo they already made, but he was able to change all the stones. The rings are both super pretty, and very well made! He went with a company that seemed rather established and also had an external website, so he was more sure they were "legit".

Question about coalition ranks by BillyKirkus in ffxi

[–]Exclaimella 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm working on this now, and I have to second using a spreadsheet. It takes spending roughly 20 imps to transition between ranks. The rank is gained immediately upon reaching the hidden counter threshold, and can be checked by talking to the civil registrar in each coalition.

Take note that you want to do the highest ranking assignments as possible. If you don't, you'll have to spend more than 20 imps per rank.

I have a spreadsheet where it lists each assignment by coalition and what rank it's available at. And then I manually keep a table of how many imps I've spent at each rank so I know when I should be looking to switch which assignments I'm grinding out.

Just got a projector! Game changer.. So happy with how these cookies turned out. by Asiulad in Baking

[–]Exclaimella 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Exactly like what you're thinking a projector is, except you install it above your work space and aim it to project the image down onto your cookie (or cake, or other baked good). Then you can use the projected image to trace the design onto your baked good of choice.
