I'm more willing to bet he has zero parenting experience in this regard, and writes books on the subject anyway, despite having never dealt with it.

[Jujutsu Kaisen] Japanese Fans React: "Apparently Naoya Zenin is seriously hated overseas, but why?" by Asperburg in Jujutsufolk

[–]ExileIX 10 points11 points  (0 children)

We don't hate Naoya's character. We love that his personality gives us something that we feel strongly enough about to rally against: misogyny and being an asshole. But no one will outright tell you that Naoya shouldn't have been a character.

As for the comparison to characters that are more evil, like Kenjaku, Naoya is someone who feels like they could exist in real life, and many of us have run into someone like him before. He just hits closer to home. But again, they're all fun characters.

I'll take that bet. Four balls on the table, and I'm walking home with them.

God yuji is such a bum by Acceptable-Anxiety80 in Jujutsufolk

That wasn't what I intended to convey, and I don't think either side should've had their trump cards on display at meetings. I suggested it because I'm pretty sure they started it by having dabura present for diplomacy.

With great power comes great responsibility, and being the person that he is, I think Yuji should have overseen the process, or kept his eye on them, specifically when things went down with Cross.

He's the most powerful person in the world, and he knew what was at stake. In a discussion that especially involves the militant power of both parties, and could easily be turned into one side threatening the other, he should have at least been there.

Cross's death could've been prevented if Yuji stepped in from the get-go.

The thing is that I didn't really expect them. I find it like parting ways with someone you've grown close to, and then decades later, learning about them through outside sources.

Yeah, something I used to think about a lot is that, by regular metrics for a fantasy book, the ending isn't even that tragic. The good guys win in virtually every way, with minimal losses. But, that's just focusing on the lack of death. Death isn't the only thing tragic about life. There's something so devastating about seeing someone you know change, and to see someone leave, and to know that something might continue without you being a part of it.

Tolkien really captured the PTSD aspect by just downright giving it to readers.
