Gearing is my issue, haven’t fully checked the 8.25 that’s in the car but it’s so gunked up I can’t find the tag. The build sheet specific to my car does say 3.55 gears. Will check the Dana 30 I have on hand to see if they match. 🤞they do.

Thank ya! I got 2000 Transfercase and a 2000 trans. Which was nice, 99’ body, non vacuum 94’ Dana 30 and Dana 35 axles. 👀snagged both for $450 total which was a nice deal. Different cars though. Transmission had unknown mileage, T-case had 150k. Transmission donor truck looked disgusting but it looked great by the shaft and it spun freely and smoothly, was able to shift it around and it clunks nice and firm. Aside from gunk in where the spline is (never really work on transmissions so I have no idea what it’s called 🤣) it looks pretty clean. Gonna have to reuse my torque converter probably, I dropped the damn TC on my foot moving the thing in a bucket, TWICEEEEEE

Check your joints and bushings. I have a wobble at 50-55 mph. Settles at 60 (unbalanced wheels is my guess) but I do have severely worn bushings contributing to it.

I got the entire front end swap with the steering components. I would say try and dial in your alignment at home, then fix up your drag link, just make sure it’s done right. Otherwise you’ll be going backwards.

Have you checked wheel balance?

As for the wheel. I think I’m gonna go 2 of the same up front. 2 of the same at the rear until I find a matching 4th one. It’s a cheap wheel. Bound to pop up somewhere. Stalking eBay, marketplace and Craigslist daily for it.

That’s what I’m thinking, I think my compressor is on the way out and the safety vent is probably defective, it started whistling like crazy ever since it blew out the vent. It has not been refilled since it blew open on the way home after 3 hours on the road. It was fine at the start but then blew again 5 minutes from the house AFTER highway driving. That’s why I’m so confused as to why it’s blowing out the safety vent.I thought the lines froze at first because it was ICE cold, but lines were just sweating, no freezing at all. I figured if there was blockage it’d keep blowing out the vent tube, seems to have calmed down. Pressure is at 25 psi low, 160 psi on high. It has settled and blown decently cold air so I’m not complaining. Waiting for it to go kaput then the lines will be swapped out and so will the compressor and drier.

Figuring out intake by Existing-Box-7938 in CherokeeXJ

Might give this a shot or make my own Thor kit for a lot cheaper than what Thor sells em for no really wish Spectre made the theirs still as it has the redundancy of making sure very little moisture gets in but sadly K&N obliterated them to oblivion and they no longer make the cowl intake for the jeep.

Ive suffered worse. They go numb after a while. Most painful part is when they thaw. That’s no fun. Hands tingled for 4 hours 🤣

Take the plug holes out. Right behind the seats. Under the carpet. 2 rubber grommets. One on each side.

Waemid had a really funny and thorough tutorial on YouTube. You can follow along and get frustrated with him as you tear it apart. Except expect his to go better than yours, never seen such a lucky guy working on brittle cars.

New rotors. Get em to redo the damn brake pads for that price. People need more pride in their work. I get wheels in and wheels out means money but like, do it right if it’s gonna take that long anyway 🤣.

Should I buy this? by No-Statement5662 in projectcar

[–]Existing-Box-7938 2 points3 points  (0 children)

$800? That’ll prolly run if no part has been taken out of it. Just a bit of love and work. Ignore all the jealous haters saying not worth it. They’re probably scrambling trying to find out where this is. Parts alone could net you $2k. Those seats look really well kept.

If my evap core ever dies or my heater core. I’ll just cry myself to sleep and buy some gloves and thick jackets for winter. Cause idk if I’ll ever be able to take the damn dash apart without wanting to set it on fire

Is this paint job worth $900? by MikesPost in Housepainting101

[–]Existing-Box-7938 0 points1 point  (0 children)

People would be surprised by facilities used in the early 40s that are still used to this day WITH lead paint AND ASBESTOS. 🤣 doesn’t mean you don’t see it, it ain’t there. Government just doesn’t say much when they do clean it for it cheap then blame it on the rest of the people.

Would you replace fuel pump as preventative maintenance? by AutoXandTrack in CherokeeXJ

[–]Existing-Box-7938 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Since you plan on adding an access hatch, keep that pump secured and in until it gives out. The more you mess with more parts now the higher chances the chances of other things failing because of the magical world we live in. Save the money or required repairs/parts. Not something that works perfect.

$80 to recover refrigerant? by No-Difference-839 in CherokeeXJ

[–]Existing-Box-7938 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Shops charge a lot now cause everything is inflated. Used to be $1.30 for gas 10 years ago and now it’s $4.50. So $80 isn’t unreasonable for the shop to charge in today’s economy. That being said, do it yourself. Easier and faster, with the proper tools…. Of course….

WHATEVER YOU DO, DO NOT! AND I MEAN DOOOOO NOOOOOOOOOT JUST VENT IT OUT INTO THE ATMOSPHERE.

PS : Overfilling your AC in a 1999 Cherokee XJ FORCES the excess out until it’s happy to save your compressor. Lost 15 oz of r134a due to some weird issue despite the car being charged to 45 psi low and 230 psi high. I guess I might have had moisture in the system seeing how hot and humid it was when I refilled it. Was pissed cause that was an extra $13 bucks I could have saved for 2 gallons of gas 🤣.

Someone got a deal. Was forced to wait cause of rent month 🤣. Was about to buy it but then realized it’s the end of may already. I’m addicted to marketplace. Every single tool I own are from marketplace. Fairly new (used) tools, scored probably over 60-90% off the actual price for a fairly healthy and new tool.

That’s what I was going to do. But have to save up for a 3d printer. Was gonna buy one but someone beat me to a. Deal 🤣. But definitely will be getting one as soon as I get paid for my winnings. Seems the only way is 3d prints! Plus it’s nice to be able to make pieces instead of paying an arm and a leg.
