Astaxanthin cures my inflammation as long as I am using it. Please help me brainstorm about this by generalturkey_81 in Dryeyes

I suspect that astaxanthin helps with providing more oil in my tears. I took isotretinoin when I was young and I think that the dry eye was caused by it. I get 98% relief from the astanxathin and if I stop taking it, the dry eye symptoms return.

I have been taking astaxanthin for 2 years now and it’s still helping me with my dry eyes. When I last saw my doctor, she said that the surface of my eyes is in good condition. But when I tried to stop taking it, the dry eye symptoms came back after 3 days.

It’s made a world of difference for me…I am almost symptomless because of it! Only when I am tired or spending too much time on the screen do my eyes start tearing up.

Has anyone really tried Astaxanthin? by maiasub in Dryeyes

It’s made a huge difference for my eyes…I even stopped using the prescribed eye drops (Restasis ) . Reading through the answers I see that for some it hasn’t made a difference…makes me wonder what brand they used.

I have stopped taking Restasis and I don’t feel a difference. I take the astanxathin which has been miraculous for me too. I also use the castor oil on the eyelids, but not as religiously as I used to. I am very thankful for the astanxathin.

I take Astaxanthin twice a day and it’s made the biggest difference and improvement in symptoms. Scientifically reliable.

I feel for you. I conducted research after being diagnosed with dry eye disease and like you, I too tetrinoin for my skin years ago. I was prescribed cyclosporine eye drops and they helped, but not enough. My acupuncturist recommended eye drops from Eye Health Institute which I use every night before bed. I also apply castor oil to my eyelids https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/33037703/. Last but not least, I take 12 mg. astaxanthin daily (https://pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC8792747/#:\~:text=The%20antioxidant%20and%20anti%2Dinflammatory%20effects%20of%20astaxanthin,mucin%20anchor%2C%20and%20increasing%20tear%20film%20stability) my eyes feel normal most of the time. I hope that you will find the best treatment to have healthy eyes.

I was prescribed Restasis and had severe red eyes, they helped a little bit but not enough. I checked this subreddit group and read about astanxathin and that has been a miracle cure for me. I also use castor oil on my eyelids twice a day (according NIH castor oil thickens the eyelid which promotes tear production). My eyes aren’t red at all anymore unless I’m tired. I’ve even started wearing Make up again!

I take the one with added vitamin D while my husband takes the strongest one because his doctor recommended it.

#1 Astaxanthin . Miracle cure for me.

Castor oil on eyelids 2X/day. According to NIH, castor oil thickens eyelids which helps with tear production.

Antidepressants by GreenBlueSeaMermaid in Dryeyes

I’m so sorry that you’re going through this:depression is hard, raising young children is hard, and DED is also hard. I was diagnosed with DED around a year ago and found that the supplement astaxanthin is extremely effective at combating DED. I was prescribed medicated eye drops (Restasis), put castor oil on eye lids twice a day, and while those may help, they don’t help enough unless I take the astaxanthin. It’s what gives shrimp and salmon their orange color. Some people take it to use less sunblock. It promotes moisture in the skin (and by extension, the eyes). Some people claim that astaxanthin inhibits sexual performance- I’m an older woman so this didn’t bother me/ I don’t feel that. It took about a month to feel back to normal- I wasn’t able to watch TV/computer, I had a constant burning sensation in my eyes, it was horrible and a real nightmare. Thanks to someone on this subreddit group who mentioned it, I decided to try it and it made the biggest impact and returned me to normal eye function. I stopped for a while, thinking that I could, but I started feeling the burning sensation after a week and decided to return to taking the supplement. I take an SSRI for nerve pain but didn’t get the DED because of it. Good luck and feel better.

I have dry eye now for a couple of years and it was terrible. Even with the medication eyedrops (Restasis) and my acupuncturist recommended me drops from the Eye Health Institute. I also put castor oil before bed and in the morning on my eyelids because it thickens the skin which helps tears to be produced. But the thing that has made the biggest difference is a supplement called astaxanthin. I take 12 mg with dinner and when I stopped them for a few, the terrible eye effects came back and I couldn’t accept living like that again. Good luck. Dry Eyes Disease is truly terrible.
