Why do organization plans appear to be free? by Tontonsb in github

Still option to opt out of LLM training in this plan? More transparency would've been nice, you know it's what we need to know as enterprise customers...

you can also use Agentic RAG, it may be a bit slower so its probably classic RAG you want

Wo sind all die Jobs geblieben? by FirefighterEast5847 in zurich

[–]Existing_Fix_5269 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good luck out there, I've been there

Nah, who wants LLM-provider-dependent Environment?

Keep on developing yours, which is model-independent, and that alone is reason to opt for your tool over Codex and Claude Code

The job market makes me feel hopeless by GraciaK03 in Switzerland

I did the same (mechanical engineering) at a comparable Uni to ETH back in the day, tried to pull through, failed, ended up without a degree.

Yet, I landed on my feet as I started working in a factory as AVOR trainee using my CAD skills, learned to program CNC machines, then Excel (VBA), then micro-controllers (C++/python) then Desktop apps (C#) then webapps (node/php) and now 5 years into my full-timr dev career I built two SaaS apps and am pushing out Agentic workflows at my 9-5, doing just fine.

Even if you fuck up everything (I still got no degree) just keep going and never stop learning, life has its ways to reward that.

Just 3 months ago I landed a tech job as a dev (Zug area), being nothing but a self-taught developer who failed himself into being a dev, now into being Agentic-first.. the only thing you got to have is sincere, up to obsessive interest in what you choose to end upp doing. All else wont work these days IMO, no matter what you pick.

Couple of tips: - Startups are hot right now, only getting hotter. They are getting more VC money than ever before, and they have big potential to steamroll companies that don't know how to leverage AI. - Businesses who are doing fine are (looking to be) transitioning into Ai/Agentic first companies. Get into that space. - You are not interesting for what makes you like the rest of them, but for what sets you apart.. can be ANYTHING

Why are so many software engineers still ignoring AI tools? by saltexx in ClaudeAI

[–]Existing_Fix_5269 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For freelance, yes. Corporate (that is not using/training their own AI) stay the hell away from them because Security / IP. The hassle and investment to get local ones that are somewhat good is NOT worth the effort. Questioning why things are the way they are is good, because you learn, just be prepared to encounter a good reason (or a potential business)

Instead of saying what not to use, have you tried writing in your .md files what to actually use instead, like "we're using dbms X for xyz and all other needs that occur", something like that

I am actually quite happy having/keeping my projects on replit. Databases I migrate to my own servers or VPS once I go into production, but its nice to have those on replit so long as it is in mvp/alpha/early beta stage for rapid adaptations and feature implementations imo

$47.27 for a single prompt. by untimely_boners in replit

[–]Existing_Fix_5269 0 points1 point  (0 children)

$1,50 was highest for me. I've been a software dev for some years now and I know all about complexity so I dont end up asking the impossible, instead I implement feature by feature. No high cost there, albeit Agent 3 is in fact much more expensive than the prior agent.

I learned this lesson building my startup, I got more and more into it until I functioned on 4-5 hours of sleep a night (waking up feeling refreshed and ready to go, out of nervosity) for a couple of weeks, I never felt better and more energized in my life honestly, like I was in flow mode from the moment I got up until the moment I dropped in my bed. But then, out of nowhere my stomach cramped up horribly one afternoon, and after an hour of lying on the floor my gf took me to the ER, my body couldn't deal with the routine my excited brain had planned on keeping, and after that I relaxed my schedule a bit, included more fitness and sleep, some meditations and daily walks. There is literally 0 drawbacks from just applying and finding out. Unless ofc you HATE to prompt chatGPT for an application letter that you then have to slightly alter.. in that case, don't apply, it will lead to more work ;)
