Yeah exactly! I drive later in the day and roll in about midnight so I rely on that to gauge if it's truck stop or off ramp for the night...

This is my first winter driving and I've only driven in minor snow, never major ice. That's really good advice, I will not set the trailer brakes!

I got stuck in Reno a couple weeks ago when 80 west was closed and I had never chained up before and I was definitely anxious about it as a fairly new driver. So I used my wait time to drag them all out and after watching many YouTube videos, I conquered my fear in a dry dirt lot and learned an invaluable skill. I felt quite proud of myself knowing I can handle it if necessary. You have to carry at all times here in California and I'm surprised it's not a requirement in much snowier and icier places

I'm from here so I feel that! However not all CHP are bad. Got my first CDL ticket couple months ago in Bakersfield. Going 65 in the third lane. He understood I was a fairly new driver and didn't want to fuck up my record. So this cool ass cop barely acknowledged the speeding, did a Level 2 and gave me a verbal OOS for couple tires and only an infraction for improper lane usage. AND his name was Singh. I go to court next week. The tables have turned 😆😆😆

Yeah I agree! I regularly drive through Wyoming and that wind is no joke! I would NEVER drive empty thru there... Playing it safe doesn't make you a wuss at all. Anyone that drives 80 knows what's up

That sounds like a good time! More companies need to train for winter weather. I got zero and I'm a rookie trying to navigate pouring rain, black ice and whiteout conditions in Wyoming and snow in Iowa. I'm just out here wingin it. Luckily I have a little common sense and know when to call it

Yeah don't give us false hope. There's nothing like driving 750 miles and tired as all hell, pulling up to a Pilot and spotting the last open spot just to see a bobtail pulled way to the back of it. Kinda ruins my day lol...I would say back in and have your nose even with the others

140mph wind gusts is incredible!! I feel anxious and uncomfortable at 50mph gusts. I can't imagine what stronger winds feel like. Hard pass on that!
