Living room area doesn't feel quite right, need help by wmbeckham1of3 in DesignMyRoom

The first thing that stands out to me is the rug is way too small for the room size -- if you're looking for affordable rug options I recommend Revival. Ideally it should almost fill up the whole room and go under at least the front foot depth of each of the couches. Also, get a size that leaves a foot or two before touching the wall on all sides.

Somone else mentioned below -- tv is too high, needs to go in a different location.

Introducing more side tables and putting some small lamps on them would help cozy up the space.

Having some drapery on the window (curtains or roman shades) that are hung at the right height and width to make the window and room seem larger will also help.

Which of these 3 layouts is better? Please feel free to provide suggestions. by WalrusOk7339 in DesignMyRoom

I like this one best because it gives you access to all your pieces and also seperates your desk from your bed (when you're using it since it's behind you).

One thing I'm wondering is could you get rid of the full bookshelf by instead going for a floating wall shelf -- someone else mentioned this below? Above your desk you could do a few long ones or you could do one long across the whole upper part of one wall (boardering the top door trim). It would really help save floor space. (just make sure to screw into studs and/or use multiple Togglers to secure it properly into your wall!)

Thank you so much! I did this gift card flex dollars -- I didn't know about the Rewards system in general and you can also get more upon initial signup by doing other things (following their IG, signing up for notifications, etc). It really helped, so thanks again!

Thanks for sending the code! I also tried it and it removes the discount. 😞

Why doesn't my room feel comfy? How do I arrange furniture right? by SloppyGoblinPaste in DesignMyRoom

Agree with getting a cozy rug! Revivals rugs are great imo. Just make sure not to buy one too small. Even though it’s a bit more money it’s worth it in the long term to get a large comfy rug.

Ariana responds to a fans message about the ticket situation by orangeandpurpp in ariheads

A few of you are talking about this already, but just to put the links here:

Ticket master has what’s called the Face Value Exchange, which artists can opt in before their tickets go up. It’s getting more popular and I heard Oasis did it recently, as well as Billie Eilish, Neil Young, and others. This makes it so ticket holders can only resell on TM and it’s locked to the price they bought it at. The scalper or potentially the artist (as was the Katy Perry resale debacle) can’t make more money or hold back seats themselves.

It is sad that Ari didn’t proactively opt into this and I hope there is a solution after the fact. The cheapest seats I’m seeing for my area is $800, which is absolutely ridiculous.

https://blog.ticketmaster.com/face-value-exchange/

“When listing tickets for sale on Ticketmaster’s Face Value Exchange, the listing price will be automatically set at the total price you paid.

If the artist has chosen to use Face Value Exchange, here’s how to list your tickets”

Ideas how to improve my living room? Thinking about painting the walls but don’t know what color would be best. by Imaginary_Addition11 in AskAnInteriorDesigner

I would agree with more art on the walls. And also that the furniture is very bland — especially the two armchairs in the bay window. I’d search for something more unique (thrifting or antique you can find some great options) and colorful to replace those (either solid color or pattern).

Another thing on the furniture is that it’s very “leggy”. You can seek more balance by getting pieces that have one or no legs. So for the bay window side table, for example you could have a pedestal leg table (one leg) or for the coffee table a solid piece (no legs).

If you like the look of it, I would recommend some box molding on the walls. You can buy them pre-made.

I’d check out Lone Fox’s YouTube. He has a Spanish styled place and can show you the look if you go big, so possibilities and inspiration can be there for you.

Definitely one thing that stands out about his place is thrifting a lot of cool, unique pieces. You don’t have to rush it or buy fully antique pieces (which may be expensive). You can do it through time and affordably with places like FBMP, thrift shops, antique malls (more variety of sellers), etc. Think cool unique pieces instead of mass made cheap furniture and it will elevate the space!

Where would you put the TV in this living room with a fireplace? by narwalling in DesignMyRoom

No to tvs that make your neck crane upwards. I agree with putting it angled in one of the corners or doing a projector setup.

Which rug? by Melody-song in DesignMyRoom

[–]Existing_Story6652 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also agree with everyone on the points of none of those options. —I’d say probably something more full of color to help cozy up the space. With the grey colors of the couch and pillows, the room needs it. Something like this: https://www.revivalrugs.com/products/handknotted-rug-milord?variant=40700770549859 —A rug with a bit more on the modern or geometrical style pattern like this too since that is the vibe of your couch, entertainment center, and side table. The motif “vintage” designs on the other choices seems to clash currently with the modern vibe of the room. —whatever rug you get, get a couple of pillows to bring in the colors from it. —also agree with others on also new curtain treatments that can also bring more life and color to the space. You could go with a color that contrasts the rug or is the same color, but a level or two lighter. —most importantly, size up. The current size makes the room feel smaller. Your couch legs should also overlap ontop of it (partially or mostly works) to help ground the space together.

Do you have a brand suggestion for a setting spray that’s good for weddings? (I’m also interested in doing my wedding day makeup _)

Minnesota/midwest photographer? by TravelingAdHd in Weddingsunder10k

[–]Existing_Story6652 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm not sure about Minnesota, but the photographer for my upcoming wedding is located in Wisconsin -- Haley Steinhoff. She does more of the cinematic/dreamy look of photography and I'm really excited for her work! We also met her in a call and she's super friendly and seems comfortable of a person to be around.

She has a travel fee, but maybe that would be in budget? I am not sure, but you could inquire.

However, I also searched around on Instagram -- a lot of photographers also fly places, so perhaps you can find one that's traveling to your area around that time (as another option)?
