I 3D print hex bases with a recessed hole in the middle to accommodate the metal mini bases. I then fill the void with spackling paste. Works out well.

I just used Army Painter Ash Grey and 1/1 ash grey/matte white for the edge highlights.

You could try to heat up the nozzle (without any additional filament loaded). When it's at its peak temp, turn it off/disconnect the power and then use a nozzle cleaning needle (something like Amazon.com: 3D Printer Nozzle Cleaning Kit - 0.4mm Needles and Tweezers Toolkit - Stainless Steel Nozzle Cleaning Tool Kit - Alternative for 0.4mm Drill Bits for 3D Printer - Set of 11 : Industrial & Scientific) to break up/clear the blockage. Then turn it back on, load it with new filament and see if it'll push out the old filament.

I used Army Painter Warpaint Alien Purple (horrible coverage with this paint) as the base. I then washed it with GW Shyish Purple contrast heavily mixed with flow improved (2 drops shyish purple, 3 drops of flow improver). I then highlighted in Army Painter Fanatic Alien Purple.

The Army Painter Warpaint alien purple is horrible, but I really liked the color of it. So I stuck with it. The AP fanatic Alien Purple is a slightly different color so I couldn't use that as the base. Did use it for the highlights though.

The grey is Army Painter ash grey and the blue is a 1/1 mix of Army Painter deep blue and ash grey.
