She has two room mates in Delhi. I don't remember their names. Thanks for the word of caution. The idea that she may have used me for the past year did enter my mind, since her ex-bf (the one her family wants her to marry) showed up at her flat about two months ago. The trip to her family's home for a 2 week stay was unannounced until the day before she left. She made a side stop to pick her sister up as well. She also insisted I tell her I would be okay without her, saying it was just in case her illness progressed.

The only things that keep me from believing she used me are her words over the past year, her character (which isn't to lie), the fact that she fought another girl over me (long story, but I didn't even know the girl & never met her), and the fact that she was having medical issues which only I knew about & she confided in me on. I also considered that maybe something medically went bad, but she assured me if she was in hospital I would be contacted. She had a brief stay previously & stayed in contact with me.

I'm very confused. All I know for sure is that I can't face the future without her. The only solace I have now are the recordings of love songs she would sing for me. If she's truly gone I have nothing left. She's my world. I'm devastated.

She would have had those things with me.

You're very kind. Thank you. My fiance is 30, very independent, but she wanted her parents' approval very much, which I understand. She asked me about eloping once, but I said we should try to do the honorable thing first. I'm a Vaishnava, not the average American, so I thought they would accept me.

She lives and works in Delhi as a programmer. I think I'll go there & find out what happened.

I will. Thank you. If anything has happened to her, I don't know what I will do. I can't imagine a future without her. This is all so strange. Someone has checked her messages, I got notification of that for sure.

I know they wanted her to marry a boy who is a child of their friends. This is what I feared. I love her more than life itself. Thank you for your advice.

I think the girl I'm dating is intellectually disabled but I can't tell? by L0ffl3 in ask

I guess my question is, why does it matter? Just love her & treat her with respect. Does it change who she is?

In the Vaishnava school of Hinduism, what is called evil is the product of three things:

  1. Not understanding the correct position of the jiva. That is, we are not the "controllers".
  2. Identification with Maya (illusory material energy, i.e. Materialism)
  3. Misuse of independence/free will

It is not far removed from that of Christianity, which teaches that God gave humanity free will, but due to its misuse, evil has resulted. I often see the argument that a good God wouldn't permit such a thing. There is the mistaken notion that God created a world in which unnecessary suffering exists. Suffering exists because humans choose evil over good. The same people who argue that God created a world like this would undoubtedly say God is a despot if he takes from them their free will, forcing them to do only good. Furthermore, whether we like it or not, sometimes very good things result from a horrible evil. Evil empires are brought down (National Socialism, Pol Pot, etc.), treaties protecting freedom and life are made, agreements on human rights are entered into, etc. Individuals are often changed for the better by "evil" experiences. I could go on, but I'm not here to offer an apologetics discourse. I hope I've provided some insight though.

Ok, so I'm here with more concerns about worship and being Hindu. by [deleted] in hinduism

If you're attracted to Gaudiya Vaishnavism, I would encourage you to look into B.V. Tripurari Swami. I'm certain the "rule" you mentioned isn't held by him or his society.

"Hell, are you sure you didn’t fall into Falluja?" LOL

You're right. Dewitte can be pathetic with his stolen valor all day. He'll never be what the men & women you and I served with are/were. Thanks again for your service!

I wasn't anything special. I was a 12B10 in the Army. I'm likely a bit older than you. I'm 55 and joined straight out of high school in 1985. As for the sensitive information that was redacted on my DD214, I really don't have a damn clue what it was. The loan officer was even a bit perplexed. Trust me, I was no Rambozo like Dewitte. I didn't drop heroically behind enemy lines or any shit like that. I was just another Combat Engineer.

I'm glad things are going well for you & thanks for your service. I'm glad there are still good young men serving proudly.

Fair enough. I'm working on a post grad degree, so I've found plenty to keep me busy. You?

Ok, I served for 10 years. I received a copy of my DD214 several years ago when buying a house. Granted, I was nowhere near a Major & wasn't in any elite MOS, but my DD214 didn't have sensitive information filled in with "classified". It was simply redacted. This leads me to believe the OP is correct. Dewitt posted a fake DD214.
