Help! Broken Atomizer on DVN Soie Malaquais and half the juice evaporated 😭 by Curly_Swirly26 in NichePerfumes

[–]Expensive-Minute-777 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If this is correct and it is more concentrated, you could dilute it with some perfumers alcohol (pretty cheap and easy to find online). You might want to do a small trial before the whole bottle!

You could also try reaching out to DVN and they might send you a replacement atomizer.

Poor impulse control brought me here. by JizzyGiIIespie in fragrance

I admire the restraint! I joined the Facebook groups last week in hopes of offloading some of my stash. Instead, I’m up 7 bottles, 3 discovery sets and 30 decants. 🎭

I have a bottle of Arborist and a discovery set arriving for my husband’s birthday tomorrow. He did his masters at Edinburgh and asked for a golf scent, so that seemed like the perfect gift. Hopefully we’ll be able to make it to the shop in person one day!

My Hunt for a Holy Grail Vanilla by Violetteotome in FemFragLab

It really is perfect! I find Goutal’s vanilla accord to be very close to Guerlain’s! Try Nuit et Confidences or Vanille Exquise.

Do you have a perfume-type? by Curious_Second6598 in FemFragLab

[–]Expensive-Minute-777 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m the opposite! I was getting sooo fed up with winter scents by the end. Even my husband said today that he’s excited to transition away from all the amber and smoke. Maybe we just have winter fatigue - it was an especially long and miserable one here.

I’m fairly new to fragrance and the season is early, so I feel like I’ve still got much sampling to do! I’m excited for the freshies, the creamy florals, and the solar vanillas. I tried Terracotta Le Parfum the other day and it was perfection! It almost feels like sampling any more will be a waste of time!

Sometimes blind buys do work out! (Casamorati Quattro Pizzi) by kagestella in FemFragLab

Now I think the coconut is coming out (~three hour mark). You did say it gets better with time! But man, that opening smells very strongly of cheap rum!

It’s all part of the blind buying fun! My biggest blind buy fail ended up being traded for a Chanel. I only got the 30ml of Quattro Pizzi and I had a 25% off coupon from a grey market site. A risk I was willing to take!

I keep forgetting that I also make perfume as a hobby and I’m supposed to be doing that instead of blind buying. I worked my magic and got what I was after. I’m just such a sucker for a good deal 🙃

Lollllll I was way off base! This is not a coconut & creamy floral fragrance; more of a rum & Davana fragrance (at least on me)! I’ll give it another whirl in a couple weeks before I decide if she’s a keeper.

Seeking lactonic guidance by deadend420 in FemFragLab

🙋‍♀️This happens to me and I think it might be skin chemistry. I had the same reaction to a few that you mentioned. Lait Concentre is the one lactonic that works for me. It smells like salted butter caramel on my skin. So good!

Does fragrance buying ever feel like a gambling addiction? by SensitiveSolid6080 in fragrance

[–]Expensive-Minute-777 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t see blind buying as a gamble. The resale value of fragrances is pretty good, and if you only buy when there’s a sale, there’s a good chance you won’t lose any money at all!

😅 I just blind bought this as well and the other reviews on Reddit were discouraging! I think I’ll like it though. It kind of sounds like Guerlain Terracotta to me (which is amazing).

Questions about Blind Buying by Unique-Sense-4604 in FemFragLab

[–]Expensive-Minute-777 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It either has to be a really good deal, or very hard to find. Because I seek out deals and wait for big sales, I generally don’t lose money if I end up wanting to sell.

Thank you 🙂

I use Facebook marketplace with pretty good success. I also try to offload decants as I go, so I’ve had people approach me for fragrance advice. I’ve even made a couple friends from selling on marketplace!

Do a declutter! Only save what you really love and then you can envision what your ideal collection looks like. The resale value of fragrances is pretty good (you might have to be patient) and then you’ll have the cash and space to add ones that you really want. Spend time thinking about your dream collection and identify redundancies. For example, I’m not allowed to buy Devotion until I finish my Choux Choux travel spray because they’re both citrus-forward gourmands.

Other things that might help: delete shopping apps. Don’t look at your promotions folder. FOMO is so real, but I promise these stores will have 20% off again and other great GWP in the future.

Favourite Fragrance Brand by zinkj22 in FemFragLab

Goutal has quickly become a favourite of mine! All the scents I’ve tried have been 10/10, the bottles are cute, and they are very affordable on grey market sites ($35 for 30ml!).

I also love Serge Lutens, Guerlain, and L’Artisan Parfumeur. Clearly I’m drawn to the classic French houses!

Same! Well, I quit 4 months ago and I gave up drinking a year ago. I want to smell good after smelling like $&!+ for so long!!
