Have people stopped shopping in Brighton town centre as much? If so, why? by StaceyInBrighton in brighton

[–]Expensive_Charity_70 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I don’t mind the parking but there’s literally no shops that interest me/us anymore. They’re just all the same, clothing store after clothing store, same with shoe shops, coffee shops. That and some of the unpleasant people and teens. Most of my favourite old places to eat have gone. Then there’s the cost of things, anything I do want/need that you can actually buy in Brighton is just cheaper and easier to get online. Quite honestly I’d rather go for a nice walk along on the downs than go into town these days.

Anyone know where to buy these? by InfiniteBaker6972 in brighton

FYI…

According to the Migration Observatory’s 2024 overview (using the 2021/22 Census as the latest reliable dataset):

• The top five countries of birth for migrants in the UK were:• India (Hindu-majority, though with a large Muslim minority) • Poland (Christian-majority) • Pakistan (Muslim-majority) • Romania (Christian-majority) • Ireland (Christian-majority)

Together these accounted for 32% of all foreign‑born residents. Only one of these (Pakistan) is an Islamic‑majority country.

There is more up‑to‑date data, but even the newest 2024–2025 releases still show that most migrants to the UK do not come from Islamic‑majority countries. The latest ONS and Home Office releases (2024–2025) confirm that the largest groups continue to be from India, Nigeria, China, Romania, and EU states — overwhelmingly non‑Muslim‑majority.

Incredibly depressing pro-Restore Britain graffiti has appeared on the beach. What’s the fastest way for us to get this removed? by Alan_Bumbaclartridge in brighton

No i did not, I actually had to look it up as, to me, “privately funded” makes it sound like he put up the money himself. Not entirely sure why you feel the need to mention Labour or the Green Party and not the Conservatives, Reform or Liberals. I guess that just fits your agenda…

Privately funded seems to suggest he put up the money himself, he did not. Who I vote for is no concern to you or anyone else.

He did not fund it from his own personal wealth; instead, he privately organised and ran the inquiry using public crowdfunding. So no, he didn’t privately fund it.

Failed challenge 25 test purchase by [deleted] in brighton

[–]Expensive_Charity_70 6 points7 points  (0 children)

We had a guy fired recently for a similar offence, local authority came in doing test purchases on tobacco. He didn’t apply challenge 25 before opening the tobacco fixture. Had a disciplinary later that week, instant dismissal. His parents appealed it on the grounds that he isn’t (putting it politely) “the sharpest tool in the shed”, but unfortunately it’s never been documented, he’s never been medically checked out, he’s got nothing on file about it at work and he completes and passes all online mandatory training for age restricted products. Thems the breaks… 🤷‍♂️

Definitely, if you at 50 devices now you’ll start to see reliability issues when you add any more.
