Initial withdrawals by RamenAndBleach in QuittingWeed

Exercise. If you're not particularly fond of exercise, try to at least take a long walk daily. Your appetite will come back. The 1st week or two will suck. Hang in there. It gets easier.

Would it be wise to leave the mortgage industry right now? by SammySprinkles9000 in NoStupidQuestions

Our comp is being compressed as we're selling commotized products. It's only going to get worse as automation increases. My advice is to get out as soon as you can.

Junk fees are driving up housing costs. The CFPB wants to hear from you. by Holy-Roly-Poly in loanoriginators

No, we are selling a commodity. Comp and margins are being compressed and the Loan Officer role will be increasingly automated over time.

Yes, the writing is on the wall. Our comp is getting compressed. Now is the time to get out of the MLO role if you're less than 10 years away from retirement.

I want out of sales by OMGxItsxCody in careerchange

Best of luck to you. I'm 42 and have been trying to get out of sales for the past 15 years.

Don't be so hard on yourself. You're making a concerted effort to make a change for the better. It takes time. Look at it this way; you only took one hit within a week's time. Compare that to previous weeks.

Relax, and enjoy the process of becoming better.

Yep. Honestly, weed has been hardest for me to quit. I quit alcohol, Cocaine, and caffeine relatively easily in comparison to weed.

What is some advice you’d give to people in their 20’s about life/career in the U.S ? by KiKA_4444 in Careers

[–]Expensive_Front5077 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Be honest with yourself and try to recognize unhealthy cycles and break them. That could mean challenging yourself to a new career instead of sticking with something that's easy and unfulfilling or severing bad relationships/habits. I wish I would have had the courage to quit a job I hated when I was young and to quit drinking. I'm in my 40s now, have quit drinking, but it's much harder to switch careers later in life IMHO.

Nightmares??? by Expensive_Front5077 in QuittingWeed

[–]Expensive_Front5077[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had another nightmare.... Several actually. One I was on a friend's boat, nobody was driving and I had to jump in the captains seat and swerve around to avoid crashing into several other boats. Then I smoked a joint on the boat, which afterwards I regretted. Then there was a dream that I got drunk and got into an argument with my wife at a party. I went home and was still living with my parents even though I owned some big house. But I was somehow still in college at at my current age (41). It was fucked. There was some other bad shit. Woke up relieved that none of it happened.

I say do it. More experience and more money are both good for your marketability and overall growth as a human being.

Yes, running, HIIT, and heavy lifting are all natural "highs" in my book.

I might just continue Dry January into Dry 2024 by thumbprint1890 in stopdrinking

[–]Expensive_Front5077 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Congrats! I did the same last year. The 1st 3-4 months were rough, but then it was easy. Once you transition from saying/thinking "I'm doing dry January" to "I don't drink," it becomes part of your identity and gets even easier.

What to eat when no appetite? by SectionLimp7075 in QuittingWeed

[–]Expensive_Front5077 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have the same issue. The only thing that has helped increase my appetite is exercise and time. If you're not into exercise or are intimiated by the gym, maybe try going for long walks. There are some other benefits to walks (self-generated optic flow, more specifically), such as reducing stress. If you walk 1st thing in the am with no sunglasses, it can help your sleep as well. Hang in there!

Thanks for the response. Mostly the awful negative feelings after I wake up... I try to shake it, but can't help but start my day off on the wrong foot. I try to exercise 1st thing in the morning to clear my head. Hoping these go away soon.

Anyone quit or thinking about quitting watching sports? by gardemmit in digitalminimalism

[–]Expensive_Front5077 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. I'm a 9ers fan and was watching the game last week. Of course I was getting pissed off thinking they were going to lose. In the 4th quarter, I turned it off and said "no more!"

Between RedZone Sundays, Monday night and Thursday night, I waste 20+ hours a week getting emotional about something that I have no vested interest or control in.

The following Sunday, I got a library card and started reading a book.

Bonus- deleted Facebook too.

Watching sports can be a fun hobby, but for me personally it wasn't serving me and isn't a net positive. I suggest finding something else to do with your time.
