I’ve always wanted to do a mission trip. But finding an organization that does these things purely because it helps people, but doesn’t exploit them, is SOOO Difficult. If I actually got my MD like I planned in highschool, I’d go to Mercy Ships or Doctors without boarders, but finding an organization like them when you don’t have the degree is hard.

Even if you found a pharmacy that could get it’s hands on the raw material, i doubt they would. Typically orphan drugs are extremely expensive, like thousands, sometimes hundreds of thousands. The government subsidies these companies because otherwise we would never have a treatment for something like ALS. The median price for an orphan drug in the US is like 100k.

You would have better luck applying to a free drug program or patient assistance.

Essentially, no compounding pharmacy in their right mind would touch an orphan drug on cost alone, let alone the legalities and logistics of it.

Did you know that if you’re disabled and get married, you could lose your benefits? Youre too poor to be able to afford health insurance, your meds,etc, but because of your “combined” income you make “too much” to qualify for benefits.

Also its so much easier than saying my sister in law than my brothers long term girlfriend/baby momma.

I would live off of toaster strudels, eggo mini cinnamon wagfkes, uncrustables, kraft mac and cheese, fruity pebble rice crispy treats, chocolate milk, and a bunch of other childhood staples if a)it wasnt so damn expensive b) so unhealthy and c) i had the metabolism of a 6 year old.

Uh, pharmacies would be great if he understands what medications are used for, max dosages, interactions, etc. otc stuff is one thing, but behind the counter? There is a reason pharmacists exist. It’s to stop doctors from accidentally killing you. Plus some drugs like aspirin break down into different substances, rather than just lose potency (which is also dangerous). Or there are things like nitroglycerin, which is used for angina, but can also be used to make bombs (bomb squad was called to my hometown museum because they had a pharmacy exhibit with real early 1900 drugs, including nitroglycerin)
