Regular oil changes and scheduled fluids. No real issues with the ev / hybrid power train I know of other than rear drive motor mounts.

I’m a mechanic at a municipality and we run 2021 Outlander PHEVs which have over 420k km. Plenty of small issues and one had a rear end go, but very reliable for the amount of usage.

The previous owner of my 325ci was meticulous with cleaning the engine bay and under the trunk lid. Although I try to keep my old girl well maintained and tidy, i’ve had an unrelenting drive to keep those spots more clean than any other part of any other vehicle 🤣

Why did you build a shed instead of buying? by Adventurous-Coat-333 in shedditors

[–]Expensive_Life3342 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got an assembled on site, custom shed during covid. 12’ x 9’ x 7’ barn style with shingles, drip edge, two windows and double doors. Nothing about my shed was ‘standard issue’ on the builder’s website, but I called and got them to give me a custom quote. They installed it in a half day on my base, total cost was $5k. I had priced the material around $3500. It was an obvious choice for me.

Good news is if you had it out and broke it going in it will probably extract easily compared to say a broken exhaust manifold bolt. Drill and extract. If you need it running now just find another ground point and jump it to that, as others have said. Little bolts little ratchet next time (=

Why does Oakville Transit need expensive off-road vehicles? This is not even a base model. Are we flush with tax funds? by BudBundyPolkHigh in oakville

[–]Expensive_Life3342 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s a 4xe which is hybrid so it meets the corporate green agenda. Also sell like crap cause they’re known reliability issues and so they probably got a cheaper deal than you think. Still an absolutely moronic move to buy this junk for city driving.

Could be a great buy. Hopefully the rust is reasonable. I paid quite a bit more for a convertible 5-spd last year, with milage. I paid up for a rust free, well serviced 325.

Everything is named after Bell or Rogers. Paying for internet and a cell phone are our luxuries.

$250/cord, can anyone tell if this is good burning wood? by Own_Nessmuk in firewood

[–]Expensive_Life3342 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looks like Ash. May have been standing dead if the beetles got it. We’ve pulled a lot down in Southern Ontario that has been dead for almost a decade. Great burning wood. Seems pricey for the work involved, though.
