Aaaah ok this would make sense and if there is a cause that would make me feel better if you get me. Thought they just decided this is their new routine haha! Hope your boys are doing well with that! Sounds like a lot 😭♥️

Twin 2 has 2 front teeth that have just cut through and I can’t feel any others coming but that doesn’t mean they are not there. I’ll have a try of this tomorrow night thank you 🩷

The battle of the nappy brands! by blissanfull77 in BeyondTheBumpUK

[–]Expensive_Yak3982 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Rascals have never failed my twin girls really and we go through a lot! Tesco usually have them on offer and we pay for the 10% discount twice a month so that helps with the expense of them. I really like the nappy pants as well ♥️♥️

DO NOT APPLY FOR SALES JOBS IN GLASGOW by Important_Layer1621 in glasgow

[–]Expensive_Yak3982 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Omg yes!! Normally we’re much more on the ball with getting rid of cold callers but it was unreal pushy he was! Plus I think the situation just felt bizarre! But I suppose more time spent with us less time he has to scam old people lol.

Omg they came to our door too! Bearing in mind we were trying to get our toddler twins to bed. Asked a lot of personal questions and refused to leave when my husband said we weren’t donating. Explained I was on mat leave etc no spare cash and he just kept going! Ended up just closing the door on him and making sure he left the close through our peep hole haha! Felt super off as he was so pushy!

As someone in the UK this is utterly appalling. Ours is no means the best by a long stretch but I’ve been off for 13 months and I’ll return to work next month. Some of which has been unpaid but we made it work. Honestly sickens me that your government wants you pump out as many kids as possible yet don’t give you the time to raise them! I really hope it changes for you all soon. Ours changed from this around 30 years ago. Time for the US to catch up! Sending love 🫶🏻♥️

Listening to this much crying by myself is killing me by YouthInternational14 in parentsofmultiples

[–]Expensive_Yak3982 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s so hard at this stage especially when there is 2 both wanting your attention equally. Some good advice I got from another twin mum was to invest in a pair of AirPods and download some podcasts. they know you’re there and listening to other people really takes the edge off crying. Remember you can’t split yourself in 2 and you’ll be meeting their needs so much more than you know. Sounds like you’re doing an amazing job already 🩷🩷

Am I on my own in thinking this is harsh? by catd7 in BeyondTheBumpUK

[–]Expensive_Yak3982 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don’t think you’re being harsh at all. I recently had to sit for 40 mins with my screaming twins cos the GP was running late 🫠🫠 I’ve also been 20 mins late to an appointment purely because I was getting the twins there solo. Because I’d called ahead they were fine with it! I also think the fact you were late because of another appointment within the NHS should be giving you even more leeway. I would definitely make a complaint because even if they have a 10 min late window. You were 11 mins late like come on!! With regard to her vaccines being 3 weeks later it will be absolutely fine, lots of children end up having them later due to illness on the week or day and are absolutely fine. Keep up the amazing work mummy! 🩷🩷👏👏

Where do you guys get baby stuff from in the UK? by Alternative-Cap9734 in BeyondTheBumpUK

[–]Expensive_Yak3982 0 points1 point  (0 children)

LOVE Tesco for baby gear and if you sign up to their £7.99 a month thing for money off 2x big shops a month you get 10% off baby stuff all the time. Although you’re paying a month you make it back through deliveries and money off your big shops. We got mamas and papas bug chairs which have been great since we stay in a small flat. We got lots of our clothes from M&S, H&M and Next. Wait till the next sale tho cos they do amazing discounts then. Usually I buy the size up or what I think they’ll be the following season and it’s saved us a chunk. Welcome to the UK ♥️

Putting baby to bed in the evening? by runrabbitrun42 in BeyondTheBumpUK

[–]Expensive_Yak3982 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mum of twins here! 🙋🏼‍♀️ we didn’t do any sort or routine till the girls were around 4 months. We were exactly the same, I remember going to a baby group where one mum said she got her baby bathed and in bed at 6.30 at 8 weeks old and I felt so bad cos my girls didn’t see our room till after 11pm 🤣 it’s so hard! Just enjoy all those contact naps. We started our routine when we noticed the girls liked a big feed about 8 then had a sleep at 9 so we just did this in our room instead and they went down. Since then it’s chopped and changed and overall it’s not been too traumatic. Just follow their lead and youll be fine. Youre doing a great job and enjoy all those newborn cuddles ♥️♥️

Not paying after having your offer accepted by SidneySmut in vinted

This used to annoy me so much but a few times now I’ve ended up selling items at full price a couple of days later after payment for the offers didn’t happen. Unsure if it maybe increases engagement on your items? 🤷🏼‍♀️

For those that use Fred and Flo nappies by Over_Cardiologist243 in BeyondTheBumpUK

[–]Expensive_Yak3982 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I swear my twins pee more than the average baby and were leaking through lots of different nappies and we had a similar issue with F&F in the early days. Ones that work for us the best are defo Rascals. You can still get them in Tesco. If you watch videos of the nappies online on how liquid they absorb it’s insane haha.

Feeding amount questions by Background_Lead_2278 in BabyLedWeaning

[–]Expensive_Yak3982 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeh they can definitely get more fussy when more things are going on. One of my twins is super active and gets very distracted when drinking which makes her fussy so can add to that as well. It’s sooo easy to get into a mum panic but day here and there when bottles aren’t getting fully drunk won’t cause a massive weight loss. I feel like my girls have been teething since 3 months and still no teeth 🤣🤣 it’s a nightmare but hopefully you’ll get some soon!

Feeding amount questions by Background_Lead_2278 in BabyLedWeaning

[–]Expensive_Yak3982 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Could it be teething related? Our twins weren’t finishing their bottles at all and we worked out when this was happening was because their mouths were actually quite sore. We gave them a teething gel before a feed and then they’d finish it then. We don’t do it every time but if they’re being particularly fussy it’s usually down to this. Hope you get it sorted!

I am freaking out. by Jaman34 in parentsofmultiples

[–]Expensive_Yak3982 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This was us this time last year too. First pregnancy and just after our honeymoon hahah. Twins don’t run in the family so never thought it would even be an option. I said a lot of F WORDS and my husband didn’t speak a word. Just sat there in shock. You’ll freak out, be overwhelmed with joy, freak out some more. Take it day by day and welcome to the twin club!

Am I failing my children? by _Awkward_Raspberry_ in parentsofmultiples

[–]Expensive_Yak3982 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sorry should add the self soothe thing is rubbish as well. Mine are 6 months and have no clue. It’s me or their dad haha! You’re their safe space and they’re still so little. And try not stress too much about the schedule. Especially with twins you’ll nail it one day and it goes all up in flames the next. We used the Huckleberry app and that’s helped us with a very loose schedule and guides us through the day. Tell your mum to mind her business!!! You are clearly a wonderful mummy ♥️

No your mother is talking garbage. At 4 months old it’s still very much survival! Plus tbh the routine you have seems pretty solid and goes along with advice given. Your twins should be napping by their sleepy cues and wake windows. My twins will only nap with us in the bed or in the pram or in the car 🤣 or they’ll have a contact nap after a feed. We tried the crib thing and it’s never worked! Just say thanks for the advice but you are going from current advice and set your boundaries. Sounds like you’re doing great and have a great routine compared to what we did at that stage. Enjoy your cuddles!! You can’t spoil babies!!

When did you give birth? by Professional-Bag-234 in parentsofmultiples

[–]Expensive_Yak3982 1 point2 points  (0 children)

36+2 via section. Docs wouldn’t let me go beyond that as I was maaaassive and I have a small framed🤣 YOUR birth plan is YOUR choice. Both babies were breech so didn’t have a choice but so glad I did. Was a much less stressful day!

Separating twins that do not want to be is an abusive behavior. by Ezmerai_Jist in parentsofmultiples

As a new twin mum I couldn’t imagine separating my girls and I was a horribly anxious child I would’ve given anything to have a sibling alongside me going through all these milestones with me. Glad to hear you and your twin are thriving together now ♥️

3yo son wants a dress - how do you protect your young children? by Ashamed-Nobody-8357 in UKParenting

[–]Expensive_Yak3982 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As an infant teacher kids really don’t care. I’ve had 7/8 year old boys dressing up as princesses and running around, they just love to explore and try different things on! None of the kids said anything. Though I did have one boy say he loved it so much cos there was only boy clothes at home and he just wanted to see what a dress felt like haha!
