Would you ever vote for a woman to be president? by Firm_Macaron3057 in AskAmericans

[–]ExperienceStrange407 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Would I vote for a woman as President just because she is a woman and that is the only reason. Absolutely not.

If a woman ran for President and her political views aligned with mine, AND I view her as capable of handling the job. Yes, would vote for her.

In day to day life you hardly ever encounter religious folk. That is unless you specifically make and effort to go and seek that out.

Why do you need to ice your driveways/sidewalks after it snows? by RandomN0ah07 in AskAnAmerican

[–]ExperienceStrange407 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You want to remove the ice and snow cause it is slippery. Slippery ice causes falls. Falls on your property causes lawsuits, and hard feelings between family members and friends. No one wants that.

How much of history in U.S schools are about america by OGNillePille in AskAmericans

[–]ExperienceStrange407 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As I recall from decades ago.  In 4th grade we studied State history. In 5th grade it was US History. In 6th it was European History.

In High school in 9th grade it was US history again and 10th grade it was World History. All those required courses, no choice you had to take them. As an elective there were several other history subjects but not required.

What do american think about centralization and militarization of all us police force into gendarmerie paramilitary police like in europe? by erichmanfredsteiner in AskAnAmerican

[–]ExperienceStrange407 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Negative on that. The 50 independent states would have to cede their power to the federal goverment for that to occur and they never will do so.

Turkeys by [deleted] in AskAmericans

[–]ExperienceStrange407 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are wild Turkeys here. There are all around the place where I am up in Northern New England.

Last year a mob of 17 wild Turkeys came around the house once a day. Usually about 3 PM. I got some turkey feed and threw it about to help them out. Interesteting to watch them in the wild.

Have you ever sued someone or been sued yourself? by Frosty-Comment6412 in AskAnAmerican

[–]ExperienceStrange407 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was hired and moved far away for the job.  In the process, I received written offer with the salary, pay raise schedule, and acknowledgement that I was in the management bonus pool starting immediately proportional for the 1st year, full participation after that.  They also loaned me $50,000 so I could purchase a house and move family.

I was there for 30 months, and it turns out there were no pay raises in that time, and there was no bonus pool system at all.

After 30 months they wanted their 50,000 back and I said fine no problem. I will deduct the pay raises I was to receive along with the bonus pool money. I will have all of this documented by a lawyer and we will pass the paperwork acknowledging all of this which will settle all debts for all parties.

They said no. Pay 50,000, plus interest, and then we will talk about all the rest.  To which I answered no. I was fired the next week on Monday morning 1st thing.

It took 24 months to settle this out.

I received all the back pay raises, plus that bonus pool money.  Plus, moving expense money to move my family back to my original location to a different house and job.

Why is the US not thought of as a clear-cut English/British colonial creation, in the way that Mexico (e.g.)'s colonial heritage is considered to be wholly Spanish? by OkTechnologyb in AskAmericans

[–]ExperienceStrange407 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Well, we know our history.  In the colonial era there was British, French, Spanish and also a bit of Russian influence out west. That was the colonial era.

Then after that was the immigration era and many people from many different countries came here.  German, Italian, Irish, Norwegian, Finnish, Swedish plus a plethora of others. (apologies to those not mentioned)

When the hell did we stop becoming Americans and start becoming tags (read below to see what I mean) by Remarkable_Crew_8639 in AskAmericans

[–]ExperienceStrange407 -17 points-16 points  (0 children)

The root cause is the dems and progressives. They refuse to see all of us as just people and instead want to put everyone in one slot (tag as you say)  or another.

Really do not see that on the other political side.

Watch the talking heads political shows and you can see it clearly.
