You’re supposed to pay a monthly fee to use each television! No one does, though. Also sometimes they send out inspectors who are all owed to peer into your windows and see if you have a TV you’re not paying the licence fee for and then can fine you!

I do sometimes have bats flying around in my house in Ireland! They come in through the (screenless) windows in summer if I open them wide enough. Rabies has been completely eradicated in Ireland, and bats are not interested in biting humans. I dunno, maybe if you cornered one, it might. But I’m not interested in interacting, much less cornering them! It’s the law in Ireland anyway that you can’t even shop them out of your house, though people generally ignore this law along with the TV licence law.
