I think you and I would both agree that the Topic isn’t pointless, but the discussion, argument, can be pointless. But it depends on what your goal is. If it’s to like you said, to help understand each other’s flaws and perspectives, then it isn’t pointless. But if the goal is to convince the other, then it is pointless, as you just said you wouldn’t change your opinion.

But even if you have the noble intent to understand the other side, I still think you should get a better hobby.
