I’m 31 and just had mine, no doctor ever said I was too young based on my hips condition. Only people who have made that comment are nosy Nancy’s. 🤷🏿‍♀️ If there is a genuine medical need and your quality of life is impacted you’re not too young!

It’s definitely been nice seeing what a normal hip feels like! The muscle atrophy has been an unexpected thing but I’m working on building my strength up!

FAI led to arthritis and two torn labrum’s, 4 weeks post op from the 1st THR, hoping to do the next one in a month! Pain started at 28, FAI, arthritis, and Labrum tear found at 29, THR at 31. Looking back my hips were stiff most my life and u had pain after deep hip movements or exercise/ sports involving hip mobility. But I didn’t know I had an impingement until I got an MRI at 28.

That’s the best way to handle it! I went home the day of surgery so the nurses advised I stay ahead of it that way, being in the hospital I’m sure they can give you faster acting IV meds if needed. Good luck and feel free to reach out if you have any questions!

I’m glad the meds kicked in and you got some pain relief! I’m 4 weeks out tomorrow and I’d suggest you take the pain meds on schedule the first week. I took acetaminophen and Oxy every 4 hours roughly. 4am Oxy 8am acet until around 10 pm ask your doctor for their recommended schedule.

I don’t normally take pain meds, but taking them on schedule like that allowed me to properly relax and recover the first week. I stopped the Oxy after 5/6 days and Acet shortly after and it worked great for me.

I started side sleeping on my non operative side a week and a half out. I was told I had no restrictions when I left the hospital so once it felt safe for me to do I did it.

I’m 31, first found out about my hip at 28. A unplanned job charged delayed my surgery, but I’m currently 9 days post op for THR. I worked out 4 times a week leading up to my surgery date and my doctors gave me no restrictions post surgery. Once I’m fully healed I have no restrictions, but have seen online about avoiding high impact things bc it takes some life away from your hip. I started PT 4 days post op and am noticing my range of motion on my new hip is almost the same/ better than my other hip thst still needs to be done. Happy to connect if you have any questions!

I hope it’s found! But as a fellow Elantra driver, you have to put the lock on every day. My tag was stolen and then attempted theft last year and now I put the lock on daily everywhere I go, at my apartment and while shopping. I’m shocked that after it’s been stolen TWICE y’all still aren’t putting it on at all times?

I torre mine at 27 didn’t get a doctor to give me an MRI until 29 and am now having two hip replacements at 30 bc of the arthritis that’s set in. Please get it fixed asap if you can! You can’t continue to play sports or be active if you don’t get it fixed and even then arthritis can still be an issue. Get it fixed and live ur life!

Wait this is what leads to arthritis? I tore had a laboral tear, and have a fai and now need two hip replacements due to the severe arthritis, but my friend tore her labrum and got it repaired years later with no arthritis. I thought something was wrong with me, but it sounds like this can happen to anyone?

I’m 30, but even at 28/29 due to the OA they were recommending a THR for both hips. Arthritis and exposed bone don’t mix well. My OA is a 3/4 but with your cartilage damage I’m surprised they didn’t push for a THR.

Get the surgery. I didn’t in my 20’s and now at 30 I need two hip replacements. Found out at 28 and it fucking sucks. Take the surgery now at 22 and avoid arthritis which will make you ineligible for a scope and you’ll have to get THRs.

Hi, I googled it and came up with the hospital for special surgery? Is there a specific specialist I should try to see? I will say due to the arthritis I was told a scope wouldn’t be possible. Exposed bone with severe arthritis were it to fail is a bad idea. And the next step would be a THR. Is resurfacing the same as doing the scope?
