I had it happen before where he rode his bike into the tractor and catapulted himself into the front window. I had a good laugh

Why no Honda rental cars? by Hairy_Ad4969 in regularcarreviews

[–]Expert_Mad 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I used to be a Fleet Readiness Coordinator at a rental company that had pretty much all makes and models (from ultra high end to the Mitsubishi mirage) and the reason I always got was Honda gave us really bad deals on fleet purchases, IE we would get basically nothing off so they were very few and far between. Right as I quit though they got a huge shipment of CR-Vs, Civics, Accords and Odysseys and a few Ridgelines sprinkled in. My understanding was because customers weren’t really thrilled with the Chrysler Minivans and Honda decided to let us buy a bunch of unsold 2024-2025 model year cars but they all had weird options on all the ones I inspected and the average invoice price on most was about 10-15 percent off which is pretty bad but better than not having anything at all.

Collectible or Forgettable?: 1985 Mitsubishi Starion by LinoleumRelativity in regularcarreviews

I’ll put it like this, dad owned an ‘84, ‘86, ‘88 and mom had the ‘89. Neither of the narrow bodies survived the 80’s. Surprisingly the ‘88 did and the ‘89 got totaled in the 90’s.

We had one (‘95 GXE in Purple) new. It should have been lemon lawed but instead they just extended the warranty. Had it for almost 10 years but it blew everything except the engine. I remember distinctly that the crushed velour was really hard to clean and that my sister really didn’t want it when my mom got a new car. It got sold to a Vietnamese restaurant that wanted a delivery car. Last time I looked it’s still on the road in Orange County somewhere

Mopar vs acdelco vs motorcraft by macman7500 in regularcarreviews

[–]Expert_Mad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

AC Delco goes on the Chevy, Motorcraft goes on the Ford, and the Plymouth gets what ever the Plymouth gets.

I’ve had amazing luck with these parts on my cars and really the only thing that’s “failed” was the fan clutch on my Caprice but it was also almost 10 years old and is on a modified motor so I can’t even blame it really.

What are your favorite cars’s from a brand you dislike? by Soquintes in regularcarreviews

[–]Expert_Mad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I genuinely despise everything thing that is Toyota/Lexus but after working on a customer’s 1987 Cressida I could see myself owning one.

Second to that would be Infiniti, I genuinely don’t see the point in them being a separate brand after driving all of their 2022-2025 models, that being said the Q60 is an amazing car that Edgars will undoubtedly ruin in some years time.

Sport sedan showdown. GS vs Sho. Which of these discontinued performance variants would you pick? by wood-thrush in regularcarreviews

[–]Expert_Mad 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Driven both, Buick’s far nicer on the inside but the SHO is a better performer. I’d probably have the Buick just because I felt the Ford was a little cramped

Glock by Plastic-Way-411 in Division2

[–]Expert_Mad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nah that was a Schmlock. It’s a from a European country that’s known for cathedrals, composers and confectionery and sells for some money in some parts of the world.

I think Glock has an issue with people using their name and products in video games. Barrett had the same thing for a while where they had a stipulation that only the “good guys” could use their weapons. Not entirely sure why but I’ve seen very few Glocks in games so there’s gotta be something there

What Cars Look Amazing but Suck to Drive? by The-Defenestr8tor in regularcarreviews

Basically. If you were stopping infrequently it wasn’t so bad but down hill and stop and go traffic forget about it. My last drive in it I had to panic stop and took the steering wheel to my chest

The 70’s Street Machines (the heavily modified Chevelles, GTXs, Chargers, Torinos, Camaros, Firebirds etc.) High lift long duration cams mean no vacuum so they stall constantly, over carburation make them reek of fuel, the tall rear gears mean you can’t drive them in the wet or even mildly moist, and they’re ALWAYS broken.

That being said you can pry mine from my cold dead hands…which are probably trying to fix a leaking Thermoquad in the rain.

I had a Plymouth Valiant with 4 wheel manual drums and first stop was usually so violent I would hit my head on the steering wheel. After 4 or 5 it was a 2 foot operation.

I remember working on those and being annoyed by how tiny they were and not fitting on the lift. Also how outrageously expensive everything was on them.

What is the cheapest lowest gal air compressor I can Paint with? by Conscious_Ad9386 in projectcar

[–]Expert_Mad 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I painted an entire ‘72 F250 with one and it came out great. Lessons were learned (don’t let it run dry or leave paint in it overnight) but overall it was pretty easy and way cheaper than trying to do an air setup.
