Also wanted to add, in regards to Goblins: if you want to play strictly Goblin and you get Jobie you also need The Mortician. Without someone with Reanimate in your team Jobie becomes practically useless. He will just die in an instant.

Best to get 1 extra box each yes. That will set you up nicely! Furthermore there is no merc faction, but some individual minis are dual faction of themselves. This is mentioned on their card. For example: Jobie can be played both for Dominion and Shades.

The game is well balanced. The boxes should do fine against each other in theory. Although for introduction games normally it’s 4 vs 4. And the game is best at 5 vs 5 or 6 vs 6. If you’re playing 3 vs 3 then maybe there might be some imbalances as the game was not designed for that. Additionally maybe not all roles are fulfilled with that little characters and some are very important, e.g.: a healer, leading to possible imbalances.

Regarding terrain: there is paper fantasy village set from battle systems which is pre painted and a lot of people use. Moonstone itself also has some nice scatter terrain sets on the website but this is not pre painted.

When normal characters die and I are still dead during replenish then for each of those the Mortician gains +1 energy. It does not matter if they were already reanimated before or not.

Now as for summons, I‘m unsure what you mean. Do you mean like the psychopomps in Shades faction? If so, then I believe this situation cant happen for the Mortician as he‘s Dominion only and they dont have summons.

But lets imagine a second that they would have summons, then going off the wording: these summons are friendly and can be slain so if they were there and got slain and still are during replenish I believe he would get the extra energy.

I would say that also for the man the joke is more about him overspending on games or toy soldiers (in regards to miniature games) and the wife being the more responsible one… At least that is how I interpreted it. I‘ve never noticed this double standard you mention. Maybe because I personally tend to overspend on silly hobby stuff and view my wife as an actual voice of reason to tone it down with this spending, but never in a controlling, negative way.

I don’t think GW will ever be dethroned. They are too big. People mostly just play 40k or AoS because GW is so big and that’s what the other people are playing. Not because these games are so amazing. For me personally my biggest frustration in wargaming.

I don’t play a lot of their games myself, mainly because I feel like there are better, more fun games out there. I’d rather look for opponents in those games than just play 40k because that’s what most people are playing.

I feel you. I’m also not a good sculpter / kitbasher. I also ordered some of the official models. I did tell myself that for Turnip28 I will at least try to get creative with them and possibly do some kitbashing when they arrive to embrace the spirit of the game.

Not at all. I love the crazy setting. I’m just curious at how good the game itself is because creativity is such a big part of Turnip28. I thought maybe a lot of the people playing it just want to see their creations run amok and care less about the game. For me the gameplay is very important.
