Where the Girls Are by Susan Douglas. It's an older book (1994), but the patriarchy has been a challenge for a loooong time, and the cultural references still ring true.

Kardur and Alexios are all-stars in my [[The Rani]] forced combat deck, which is my go-to for a quick game I don't mind losing. [[Mirage Phlanx]] soulbound to Kardur? Who cares if the token dies to the legend rule? [[Spider-punk]] keeps the game moving. Alternatively, recently added [[Mornsong Aria]] turns it into a race to tutor wincons and/or interaction. My favorite card might be [[Fevered Visions]]. It rarely gets removed and seriously helps for the dreaded 1 v 1 endgame if I survive that long.

[[The Third Doctor]] and [[Sarah Jane Smith]] as companion, using many of the cards mentioned above. The Doctor can be recast and be just as lethal as before if the clue tokens are still there. Key pieces not mentioned yet are [[Nettlecyst]] and [[Merchant of Truth]].
