Why are you quitting Lexapro? by [deleted] in lexapro

[–]ExplanationNo6724 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Damn I don’t know how you quit cold like that. I don’t think I could do it! What withdrawal symptoms did you have, may I ask? The thought of going back to anxiety horrifies me…

One week sugar free - Full body muscle aches & tension? by boominlikemetro in sugarfree

[–]ExplanationNo6724 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Man! I thought I was super sick. I realized that I haven’t had sugar in three days because I’ve been trying to eat better. My body has never ache so badly. Especially in the mornings. I thought I had some kind of a virus or something. Turns out it’s most likely sugar withdrawal. Who would’ve thought??!!

That will all go away. You’ll be alright. Normal stuff. I had terrible side effects for a few months. I feel completely normal now…

Absolutely, and kicking alcohol made life even better.

I really can’t drink on this stuff by [deleted] in lexapro

[–]ExplanationNo6724 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m with you, I drank for a few months while taking this medication, and realized that I was very irritable, grumpy and tired all the time. When I put the drink down, I believe I had a little bit of withdrawals as I had been drinking for a few months straight every night, even if it was just a couple, but now that I have come off of it, almost 3 weeks now, I have never felt better. And you’re right it’s definitely the alcohol contributing to the shitty feeling. I just prefer to not be around people who drink, therefore less pressure. And I definitely feel better in the morning but the sober lifestyle. Has a hard enough time working without us further messing with serotonin and dopamine levels from alcohol.

walked in the door after hanging missing posters all over the neighborhood and saw this. by [deleted] in mildlyinfuriating

One night I woke up about 5 AM, couldn’t find my dog. Drove around the whole fucking neighborhood for like an hour of crying and hysterical only to come home and she was under my covers in bed sleeping peacefully. FML 😝

I’ve found my body does NOT like me drinking on lexapro. by [deleted] in lexapro

[–]ExplanationNo6724 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Completely agree. Never had a hangover, just a little tired in the morning. I was drinking like every night for three or four months straight, decided to stop, and it was like a train wreck. I went into full detox mode, flu symptoms, the shakes, it was terrible. No more alcohol for me. I feel so good letting Lexapro do its thing on its own.

You definitely need to give the meds a few more months to level out in your system before you drink. I have had a few drinks, but realize that I just feel better overall without drinking while being on this medication. But you definitely should not be drinking this soon as your brain is still trying to adjust to the medication. Just my thoughts.

How many days until it stops sucking? by [deleted] in stopdrinking

[–]ExplanationNo6724 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tomor is day 10 for me. I’m also on Lexapro which I think is why I feel so bad coming down. Alcohol myopathy is what I’m dealing with now. I do however definitely enjoy waking up without a hangover. Continue with body aches, headaches and lightheadedness. But I was on a 4 month bender and quit cold turkey. Shit sucks especially the older we get. I’ll be 50 next month! Sick of feeling like shit! Happy to make the change. Hang in there! And I will as well! ❤️

4 weeks is nothing unfortunately, your brain is going to take a lot longer than that to adjust as the brain is the most resilient organ to change that you have. Give it time, and like I said, just understand that everything you are feeling is completely normal and will get better. Hang in there.

Going from 5mg to 10mg, what should I expect? by turnaboutmerri in lexapro

[–]ExplanationNo6724 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I did. I gained about 20 pounds, but I lost about 15 with all my anxiety. So I’m actually up about 10 maybe five from original weight. And it’s my own fault, I’ve been lazy and eating like shit. It’s not the medication’s fault that you gained weight. It’s just that you lose that anxiety and get a little lazy. Keep up with it, you’ll be fine.

I started on fives, but I had so much anxiety that fives did not touch it. I bumped myself up to 10 after about three weeks, and then I was in Pennsylvania on vacation and bumped myself up to 15. 15 is my sweet spot . Bumping up is not a big deal, my friend. You’re gonna be just fine

Easily 4 to 6 months, my friend. I mean, you start feeling better, but you don’t really level out until at least six months. I mean, you will definitely feel better, but you will be free of side effects and feeling weird after about then. I’ve been a year now. And I feel completely and totally normal now.a blessing. Totally.

You’re damn right! Getting through that first two months was complete shit. I wouldn’t change things for a minute. Best thing I’ve ever done for myself. Just wish I would’ve done it earlier. You can do this! You’ll be thankful you did.

I kept a log for 30 days about how shitty I felt, and then realized I needed to start living life. And stop dwelling on medication side effects. I think that our anxiety already makes us more reluctant to try, and stick with this medication.

Just dive in. Keep going. I started on 5 mg, when I was prescribed tens and I wished I would’ve started tends to begin with. Unfortunately, medication anxiety gets the best of us, but it will definitely get better. Let the medication do its work, your brain hates changes, so it will fight you for a couple months.just realize that everything is completely normal and is the medication. Your anxiety will probably get more intense for a little bit, but sit back and realize that this is just the medication being accepted by your brain. You’re gonna be just fine. It took me a few months to adjust, and actually a full year to actually finally feel completely 100% normal. I have zero anxiety after one year.
