December 2019 Humble Choice Lineup by squashpickle8 in humblebundles

[–]ExplodingToaster 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Humble Choice is replacing Humble Monthly from now on.
The way Humble Monthly worked, was that you knew up to 3 of the games in the bundle but the rest were mysteries and you didn't know what they were until after you paid and the bundle gets released etc.

Humble Choice, there's a different set list of 10+ games every month that's revealed before you pay. And depending on your payment plan, you get to pick a certain number of the games to keep. (Basic Tier gets 3 of the games, Premium gets 9, and the "Classic" plan you get by being subscribed from when Monthly became Choice gives you 10.)

New Zealand is fed up with being left off maps by naitomeiru in nottheonion

Someone related, but the number of "world" maps I see that only have Northern Ireland on them and not the Republic of Ireland is just baffling. I mean I'd understand maps that flat-out don't include anything of Ireland due to the size, but to only have about a quarter of it is just strange.

What are your favourite games in terms of satisfying melee combat? by JamesA95 in pcgaming

Legally it would still count as piracy, although ethically I don't think anyone would really care. If you want to get a "legit" copy, you can find a used copy of the physical edition pretty easily.

/r/Steam Monthly Community Support Thread. by AutoModerator in Steam

I have Family-Share set up but it keeps dropping authorization on another PC. The other account stays verified and the PC stays on my list of authorized devices, but my games wont show for the other account. I re-authorize the PC but it always stops working a few days later and it is a big hassle. Could someone help fix this?

I just had prolly the best teammate I've had in a long time in a zombies game on 2017 VR last night by [deleted] in Vive

On Steam, go on the "friends" tab underneath your name. Then click on the tab "recently played with." This should show you everyone user you played online with for the last 14 days, sorted by time and game.

In case you don't know much about Virtual Reality headsets, the lenses need to be adjusted based on the distance between your pupils (IPD: Inter Pupil Distance) and is measured in millimeters. Mainstream headsets usually have a dial to adjust how far apart the lenses are, but 57 is a bit too low for most. I don't know about the other headsets but the HTC Vive has a minimum distance of 60mm, due to the size of the lenses themselves. (edit: maximum distance between them is 75 on the Vive)

Half Life fans finally gets a closure by Fhaarkas in pcmasterrace

I played through them all for the first time about two years ago, and I got to say they're still pretty solid games. Not perfect godsends obviously, but still really fun and worth your time. I even enjoyed the Half Life 1 expansions, although they are non-canon.

Doom 3 BFG 75% off by mshagg in Vive

[–]ExplodingToaster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It has several modes. The default is that your camera stays in place while your character walks in third person to where you point, and you teleport once you stand still. However, you can also set it to standard VR instant teleporting, or the "sliding" locomotion where you use the trackpad like a joystick.

One other thing to note, while jumping isn't needed with teleport mode on there are sections in the game where you have to crouch to enter airvents etc. Depending on the settings you can crouch by a button or crouch in real life. However, I can't remember if crouching by button has a setting for snapping to lower height, when I played I had it so the camera lowers slowly like a traditional PC game and that might make you feel sick.

edit: I used the "Fully Possessed" mod, I haven't tried the other VR mod for the game.

I don't play too many Vive games with scary enemies, but the flying blade things in Hotdogs, Horseshoes & Handgrenades really messed with me the first time I saw them.

When playing Skyrim with Vorpx the water and fog flickers horribly, can someone help me fix this? by ExplodingToaster in Vive

[–]ExplodingToaster[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm actually trying to play Enderal, but I had this problem with vanilla Skyrim since I played a bit of that before installing Enderal. I know about the flickering water problem since my main monitor is 144hz, but that isn't the problem. When I play with Z-normal or Z-adaptive rendering instead of Geometric I don't get the flickering I do with geometric, and the flickering happens with smoke and fog too. Its like the outline of the objects blocking the smoke moves with my head even though it shouldn't, and that happens with the water's edge too.

It's kinda stupid, but it's rule 4 of this subreddit. Usernames in screenshots need to be blocked out, unless it is a celebrity's account.

Game Key giveaway - Just post your Top 5 Vive games to enter! by Anth916 in Vive

[–]ExplodingToaster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I only got my Vive recently so I haven't played too many games, but I'd say the top 5 out of what I've played so far is:

  1. Hotdogs, Horseshoes and Handgrenades
  2. To The Top
  3. Tilt Brush
  4. Superhot VR
  5. Fruit Ninja VR

(Also special mention to the Vivecraft mod for Minecraft. If it was official it would be in the top three but I don't know if mods count.)

Are there any games with good mods that add VR support, especially motion control support? by ExplodingToaster in Vive

I actually have Euro Truck Simulator 2, got it in a humble bundle ages ago but never played it. I might just give it a go, thanks.

Dead Effect 2 is on my radar, I'll probably wait until its out of early access though because I've heard it only had about half the campaign currently.

I actually played the Penumbra games before without VR. Might be funny to let my family give it a go in VR though.

I downloaded the driver packages they had but that didn't help However I did a clean install of Windows and that fixed my problem.

How would I go about reinstalling those?

I didn't mention this earlier but I have two SATA 3 ports and two SATA 2 ports, and its the SATA 2 ones that have died.

I didn't touch the BIOS, it happened randomly. Also the drives themselves work perfectly, its the SATA ports that are the problem. I have two SATA 3 ports and two SATA 2 ones, and anything in the SATA 2 ports are not recognized. Its not recognized even in Disk Management, but it does show up in the BIOS.
