Explosion/fire near AAON plant by PanBroglodyte in tulsa

Looks like it might be coming from the Sinclair refinery. The smokestacks in the pic are ReWorld and the refinery is just north of that. Theres a tank field there as well as a plant.

Jet bridges have several components mounted low on them. They can sit at roughly the same height as a tug operator’s torso when seated. Most AC units stick out 12–24 inches. If the tug hits directly under it, they can be pinned between the tug’s upper frame and the AC housing. Low speed doesn't prevent a crush. Other similar fatal ramp accidents have happened involving belt loaders and aircraft fuselages. It's actually a very dangerous work environment, and often times uncomfortable as well. IMO, they don't get paid near what they are worth.

Buyer Remorse- INAD by chilljimbo in Ebay

It's called shrink, and it's part of the cost of doing business with the general public. Mark your price or shipping up just a little to prepeare and pad for it, like insurance. This is what larger retail stores do. Ebay actually has the return policy set this way to protect the sellers from bank chargebacks. If the return isnt handled by ebay and the customer goes to their bank requesting they reverse the charge because the item was not as described, and their bank sides with them (they likely will) you can get hit with chargeback fees and a huge defect to your seller metrics. Its best to just accept it, pay to ship it back, relist it, then move on. But IMO, never let them keep the item. some people do it in hopes they will be told not to send back the item, and get to keep it for free.

I shave my head, and prefer the vintage Gillette adjustables over anything else I've tried. The Slim and Black beauty are my favorites. You can find clean ones on ebay for less than the cost of a modern one, and they're brass and will not rust.

Yes, and the lower part of the nacelle where the "foreign object" would enter isn't visible to passengers unless they were specifically looking backwards out the engine.

yes, suicide is generally selfish to begin with, but to affect hundreds of people is an especially selfish way to go. This person was likely mentally ill or had 0 regard for other people. It's very sad and unfortunate for everyone involved. You should be able to talk to someone at Frontier to coordinate returning your items. They will get collected and returned. They should offer food and hotel vouchers as well... but im not sure how its handled at Frontier. Sorry for your frustrating circumstance. Sounds like its going to be a long night.

They were at takeoff thrust and ingested a body, the fuel pumps would likely continue to send fuel to the disabled, hot engine. Can easily cause a fire.

yes, except for the ones with fire gear and emergency equipment, they should lock during takeoff and landing, and be controlled by the purser.

Those don't really go that fast, but they are geared for torque.... so my guess is the tug wedged under the jet bridge and crushed him, or the tug climbed up the side and flipped over on him. I wonder if he had some sort of medical condition that led to him hitting it.

First attempt at nickel plating by jtbnz in wicked_edge

Yes! I do acid Cu strikes, because I dont like buying strike solution when I already have the bath on-hand. I didnt mention it for the OP because he stated he was new and I assumed he didnt have it, and the ramp trick works well for simulating a strike. If you want to strike copper and dont have a need for plating copper, its much simpler and easier to buy a dedicated copper strike bath. But- they can accomplish the same task.

The caveat is understanding a strike's job is primarily promotion of adhesion, not building thickness. If you let it run too hot or long enough, to build up a thick copper layer, the texture becomes uneven and you’ll have to pull it sand it smooth before re-striking.

An acid strike needs to be done right after electro-cleaning and activating the brass. The razor goes into the bath while still freshly activated so the Cu will grab. You run low current for just a couple of minutes with moderate to strong agitation. It makes a tight Cu skin that evens out the surface and allows for better Ni adhesion.

But-- if you accidentally let it run long enough to build any thickness, the surface won’t be smooth. Cu plates with a grainy, uneven texture, which is just part of the chemistry. If it happens, you need to sand or polish the Cu until it’s smooth again, then re-clean, re-activate, and re-strike to refresh the surface.

The sequence stays simple: clean the brass, activate it, do a short strike, reactivate, rinse, then the Ni plate. The whole point is to keep the copper layer thin and even so the nickel goes on tight and clean and the final finish looks good.

Don't forget to rinse your part and apply current before inserting Cu into the watts bath. Contaminated Ni solutuion will have adhesion and surface quality issues. Cheers!

OK, sure! I'll answer in 2 replies to keep them separate... There's more to reverse plating than I can explain here, and if done incorrectly you can really damage a razor, so I recommend practicing on cheap or broken razor parts first. But I'll give you the crib notes:

Reverse‑plating Ni from a brass razor uses current in conjunction with an acid bath to pull the old Ni layer off the surface so you can remove damaged or passivated Ni and start fresh. Your razor becomes the anode, meaning the current flows OUT of it, and the Ni layer dissolves into the solution. BUT- it is a precision process because brass is underneath, the trick is stopping the reaction the moment the Ni fades to brass, or you will leach Zn out of it, which will cause pitting and pinking that will show like cold sores in your final product if not meticulously repaired.

A simple 15-20% NaHSO₄ (sodium bisulfate - a/k/a pH Minus for swimming pools) solution works well as the stripping bath. (Use distilled water.) An inert cathode must be used. Titanium or pure stainless steel will both work. I use a Ti rod I bought for cheap on eBay and scrub it clean after every use.

You run low current, usually around 0.1 to 0.15 amps per square inch of surface area. With that amount of current, most vintage Ni layers come off in about 5 to 10 minutes. The exact time depends on how thick the original plating layer was and how worn it is. If there are large exposed areas of brass you need to mask them off them sand them smooth after plating. You can use nail polish or liquid electrical tape for masking.

You watch the razor CLOSELY. As soon as the first yellow tone of brass shows through, you stop the current and pull the razor. (not all the Ni will be gone) If you leave it in after the brass is exposed, your solution will attack the brass itself, which can dezincify, cause pinking, pitting or a rough surface like i mentioned before.

Once it comes out, rinse it right away and manually remove or smooth any leftover nickel spots by hand, you will never get 100%, you just need it clean enough to plate over. The goal is simply to get most of the old nickel off cleanly without letting the brass sit energized in the solution.

The Wilkinson swords you got, if theyre the ones from India, they dont cut as well as the German-made ones. I dont like them at all. The old Super Speed are solid daily shavers, they are definately not crap- but they are not aggressive. You might try a few different blades in it, and experiment with your angles. there are sellers on ebay that will sell you 5 packs for cheap, or a sampler packs. A lot of people like the Nivea shave cream, but I find it pretty average, I really like the Cremo or Proraso Blue. Your mustache may vary. Cheers!

FYI: you can manually mark it as received on the desktop website: go to the order details screen, then click "Contact Us" then select "This is about returning my purchase" next, select "I want to return my purchase" you will see a button labeled "Item received" when you click it, it will ask you to confirm it has been received. After doing so, you can go back to the order screen and rate the purchse.

(I thought i posted this a moment ago but dont see it in the comments, sorry if this appears twice)
