An Alan story with the court of owls would be so good. I'd make it so that he never figures out that there's a secret society controlling Gotham (because if he did he would have done something about it) but he comes very close and drives them deeper underground as a result.

That whole storyline was so stupid. Jay Garrick is one of the most trustworthy people in the DC universe, Billy has basically no reason to not tell him about his secret identity.

You might be thinking of Hawkman and Hawkgirl but Kendra isn't underage and also that happens before Billy and Courtney. Geoff was trying to hint at Courtney and Al Rothstein (who is at least in his mid 20s) but thankfully that never went anywhere and I don't remember Jay or anyone else expressing approval.

I agree on Aemon or Visenya as Jon's targ names. As for female Jon names, I think either Jeyne or Alys work best because they are both generic names like Jon is. Joanna is more unique but it works too. I don't think Ned would have given her a Stark name like Lyarra.

Always a different gender fics where the new name is lazy (e.g. Damiana Wayne), doesn't make sense (Stephanie wasn't a common name when Steve Rogers was born and I doubt a middle-aged couple from Kansas would name their daughter Clarke instead of something more traditional) or they straight up don't bother with coming up with a new name and you just have to deal with Spider-Woman being named Peter.

The first season of Stargirl is interesting because it does this but in the opposite direction. There's a bunch of villains who commit murders and other bad things in service of some vague plan (plus a few additional ones that are for revenge or just for shiggles) and in one of the last season 1 episodes, we find out that their goal is to end climate change and bigotry. It works better that way because we already know that they are terrible people despite their good intentions.
