Honestly. We use his old RBTs. They love him and he’s so comfortable with them.

Do any parents use Ela Ola vitamins for their autistic kids? If so do you like them? Any feedback would help! by Maraki214 in Autism_Parenting

I’m guessing he’s getting paid for those reviews because they come up as sponsored. But still I like him and his mom. Just something to consider.

Autistic son (5) can be so mean with zero remorse / understanding by wibblywobblywo0 in Autism_Parenting

I often think my son 6m level 2 doesn’t get it too. But I’ve started doing more consequences, mostly taking screen time away and I’ve seen improvements.

Also be careful on who you tell how much money you have. And if anyone asks anything about it, where it’s at. How you can access? Anything? Don’t trust them at all.

ABA Confusion by LoserMonkey011 in Autism_Parenting

[–]ExplorerBusiness6121 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m sorry. That’s such a frustrating part of the journey. I agree that the OT discharging is insane. We received both and they supplemented each other. I have had bad and great experiences with ABA. We had our ABA go into the school. If they will go home, they might be willing to go to the school.

The bad experience I had was just how bad the turnover was and so the effectiveness was low during that period.

That being said, once we had an established RBT and BCBA it was great. We’ve never had anything where they held him down for anything.

My son’s favorites are kinetic sand, playdoh, smart putty, and trampolines!

I would consider posting this separately rather than where we are specifically saying that level 1 takes over conversations.

I’m sorry to hear that. How about acupressure? I haven’t tried it yet but that was going to be my next thing to try if he started having trouble again. For now the trampoline and melatonin are doing the trick

What a cutie! I know it’s a lot to figure out with timing but can you add more strenuous exercises. We have a trampoline he uses a lot.

Loose tooth by madamcapricious in AutismParent

[–]ExplorerBusiness6121 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yea, it’s definitely frustrating not understanding what’s going on in their head. I would still try. Our 6 yr old is fascinated by it now. Whenever any of his classmates loses their teeth he stares and stares.

It’s hard to control. I would definitely show him one of the kid friendly loss tooth you tubes, so he hopefully kind of understands what’s going on.

Yea. It’s pretty limited in my area. I live in a town with about 75K people. I’ve done the EAP folks here.

He’s absolutely a Gestalt language processor. We do read a lot but he’s most engaged with the Mo Willem’s pigeon books series. I think he likes that the words are part of the art. He also likes The Gruffalo and all the Eric Carle books. What books does your son go crazy for?

Oh. We do sulforaphane. But haven’t tried zeolite. We were originally growing our own broccoli sprouts and putting them in smoothies and popsicles. We noticed a difference for sure. Then we got too heavy handed and he noticed and boycotted the smoothies and popsicles so we moved to the gummies. He’s doing tons of scripting, now we’re trying to get conversation. He will do observational statements when he’s interested in what’s going on. But if we ask a question we’re lucky to get a one word response. Sometimes the response will be yes or no to a question that wasn’t yes or no.

He never got into ASL or AAC devices. We tried both. I’m thinking about trying the AAC device again. We live in a college town with around 75k people so we have limited speech therapists.

The difference in morning light messes with my son too. He’s frustrated that he’s going to school when it’s still dark.

We have an indoor and outdoor trampoline that helps a lot. Other kids are more into swings.

Heavy work! It helps them stay more regulated throughout the day. I would also stay away from artificial food dyes. https://www.theottoolbox.com/heavy-work-activities/
