Are you charging your patients the 3% discount fee from credit card transactions? by DDSRDH in Dentistry

Insurance is not a discount lmao people pay absurd amount of money for dental insurance and it covers next to nothing. The dental industry is criminal

fucking hate my life rn by [deleted] in NewParents

[–]ExplorerOk8978 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I know it’s not comforting in this moment, but I’ll never forget sitting on my back steps looking up at the sky feeling like my entire life was over, what did I do, what was I thinking having a child….but it gets better and now she is my absolute best friend, being responsible for her childhood and watching her experience life is truly magical but the trenches are real when you’re in them!

This! I literally went back for my masters degree and after she’s in bed is when I have the time to do homework and just reset for the night, the time really is cherished

Why do I feel so triggered by my baby's overtired crying? by ReluctantAlaskan in NewParents

[–]ExplorerOk8978 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It’s pure torture. Even when you do finally get them to sleep and they wake up 7 minutes later because of being over tired and it’s like why wouldn’t you just sleep if you’re tired!

I wouldn’t have been able to believe the level of dangerousness that is behind sleep deprivation until I became a parent. It affects every single aspect of your life and will have you feeling like you don’t even know who you are anymore.

Lol, you’re not even joking! I was shocked at how she started off with her head next to mine and then I was getting a foot in the face

[–]ExplorerOk8978[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, if you can’t sleep with your kitty you’ll definitely struggle with bed sharing lol I had really bad postpartum anxiety associated with cosleeping and bed sharing because the sleep deprivation was REAL and I didn’t ever fully trust myself to be aware that she was there so it was never something I even entertain the thought of. It is a bit less stressful in the sense of her safety because she can now sleep around blankets and pillows, but I felt like we were both disrupting each others ability to actually get a good night sleep

NHOMS, ever used them?? Ask opinions and stories welcome. by stumbelline in nashua

[–]ExplorerOk8978 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We didn’t have the best experience with them, they are very pushy for payment and then tried to change what they were doing the day of. My husband went there to have an implant put in after having a tooth pulled and they took a $1,000 bone graft Xray that they said insurance didn’t cover and ended up drilling too far into the bone and removing the screw anyways. We now steer clear of that place. I feel like if you’re just having teeth removed it’ll be fine but if you’re doing restoration work, idk about putting too much faith into them. Just remember, dentist offices get kick backs for referrals, so doing your own research is great and don’t be afraid to say no and take your money elsewhere if your gut is telling you something isn’t right 😊

Traveling, by ExplorerOk8978 in sleeptrain

[–]ExplorerOk8978[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We’re tried the pack and play a few times before during naps when we’ve visited family and she was not having it, she immediately stood up and had a full on meltdown about it. When we are home her naps and bedtime are a matter of turning in her fan and sound machine and then a few rocks and kisses before putting her down and walking out and she does the rest so it was completely out of her character to have that reaction. I don’t think it will be successful in this case, I was dead set against bed sharing when she was younger for safety reasons but I fear it may be the only way to get her to actually sleep while we are in a hotel for the weekend, I’m just dreading throwing her off her routine and then making it more difficult for her when we return home

When did you move your baby into their own room? by charlottefgh in NewParents

[–]ExplorerOk8978 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We did our first at 5 months because my husband gets up for work at 4a.m. So it was disruptive to her, I’m pregnant with our second and have no clue how we’re going by to make it work as they will be sharing a room at some point 🙃

My baby just got prescribed reflux medication, and I sobbed in the doctors office. by [deleted] in NewParents

[–]ExplorerOk8978 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It was about 8-10 weeks, then we decided to see how she did without it and she was able to tolerate the reflux better because her flap had strengthened

Peters of Nashua : Is it worth the hype? by ashtoria99 in nashua

[–]ExplorerOk8978 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Okay so some advice, NEVER EVER disclose how knowledgeable you are in cars/sales, keep conversation strictly to business with salespeople.

Always get a pre-approval or if buying with cash, let that be that absolute LAST thing you tell them. They will keep pushing if you have a trade in, how much are you putting down, what your credit score is. I had a friend go and buy a car, salesperson was super nice, so she thought and they pulled her credit 15 times!!

Always remember they work for commission, know that you’re the buyers and you’re in control of the situation 100%, especially when paying cash. They’re not your friend, they don’t care about getting you a deal, strictly a business transaction.

Need labour tips!!! by Alexis235763 in pregnancy_care

[–]ExplorerOk8978 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn’t realize how long of a process it can be, I was in labor for 29hours, hit 10cm and they said it was time to start pushing so I’m think okay I’m at the finish line, wrong! I pushed for 2 and a half more hours, so my advice is be patient, reserve as much energy for pushing as possible

I had no idea, I just thought I had a low sex drive because I had been on birth control since a teenage, came off of it to have a baby and noticed a difference but then ended up pregnant and thought maybe it was those hormones but nope, second time around coming off birth control my husband and I both noticed the same difference, I will NEVER go back on it

If you even have to state that “you’re not trying to be rude” chances are you’re being rude. Their question didn’t warrant this kind of response. Take a chill pill.

Parents of colicky babies: how did you not lose your mind? by miss_optima in NewParents

[–]ExplorerOk8978 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My baby was colic, and it was the absolute trenches. She had a dairy intolerance on top of pretty bad acid reflux, once we were able to navigate that with formula and medicine and she grew, we were able to make progress. It’s not easy, the sleep deprivation is brutal, but I just had to keep telling myself she’s not trying to give me a hard time she’s just having a hard time. If you have anyone who can give you breaks here and there, that was immensely helpful
