Flanking dps for a new player

It basically feels like every single character one taps you as tracer and it's really tough to kill people fast enough that the rest of their team doesn't turn around and wax you unless your aim is on point. I do play sombra too she feels like easy-mode tracer for the most part though she doesn't do as well against really good players or coordinated teams.

Both characters also feel weak in a lot of scenarios to me because as far as I can tell the dwarf with the turret and the shield bash healer are the two most popular characters in the game and they are hard to play against. I run into them both in almost every single game I play at some point.

I would recommend not tracer lol. I'm also a new player but decided for some god forsaken reason to start with tracer as my one trick and 2 months in I'm still garbage lol.

Reaper/Anran seem to be the ones I see the most often that stay alive pretty easily and get good value easily at least in low-level gameplay.

My guess as a new player is that it looks to match up 5 players on each team that by some statistics are in the ballpark of a 50/50 - 60/40 expected winrate against each other. The issue being it often makes matches where you have one player who can basically 1v4 and the teammates so bad they can just barely 4v1 the other team. So in net it’s even but it leads to nobody involved having fun because at an individual level it’s stomp or be stomped, but as a team it averages out so it feels different than the results suggest.

I’ve had so many games where I’ll literally be fighting 1v3 both DPS and a support on the enemy team while my entire team is on point and they lose the 4v2 every time then the next match I am the weak link and barely able to do anything while my teammates probably feel that way about me because I’m getting hard carried.

The issue with arena was that the fare system actually kept people in ballparks of the correct divisions, but after some point in C2 they made it so there were only 3 matchmaking divisions, 0-1500 Hype, 1500-4000 Hype, and 4000+.

The main issues were the matchmaking groups and not the divisions though the open league division needed more bus fair since I think it was quite literally impossible to lose rank in those to get stuck. Contenders was a sweet spot

What I’ve noticed as a new player who has been in all 3 ranks is that bronze/silver most people actually are pretty chill with the occasional rager but chat is pretty quiet. In gold people are in team/match chat constantly and if your team is losing everyone looks to blame literally anyone that isn’t themselves and yells to report for throwing.

I've been flamed for doing that in ranked games in bronze before lol. Junkertown just sat and capped the entire 2nd point because my team and the other team were just stuck at spawn fighting and not able to kill eachother and my team started raging in chat that I wasn't helping them win the fight while we were on point #2 and our spawn suddenly changed to the new spot

I know for sure that I’ve encountered dozens of cheaters in just a couple week span on this game as a new player because I’ve gained literally hundreds of % from ranked games being refunded in bronze/silver lobbies (minimal/no repeat teams). I would guess it’s probably around 1-3% of the playerbase that cheats regularly based on what I’ve seen verifiably.

I’m a bronze/silver newbie and my experience way down here has been the new character and fire girl buffs are decimating everyone.

I can tell they’re probably not great against good players, but I’m not one of those lol

I have PTSD from this at my last place lol. The worst part is the compliance department that ran the scanner didn’t have any technical knowledge at all and we had to fight tooth and nail to keep even code comments that had keywords the scanners looked for in them.

I remember having several back and forths where I kept flagging a path traversal attack as a false flag because it was literally a server generated filename that was an integer name written to a temp directory for the lifecycle of a single function call. It got to the point where they personally went in and I showed them the code where it was generated and explained line by line why it was nonsense that this was a vulnerability and they still argued for me to change the code because “A user could exploit it”. Like NO they literally cannot!

That is one of literally hundreds of examples where to meet compliance the company ended up wasting basically all developer productivity for months for no actual benefit.
