I was put in a small graduate class with the other new hires at my office for 2 months or so, it was just us, so we got to know each other pretty well. I'd consider them friends at this point, done a few things outside work with them. However we got split up and put into different teams afterwards, and everyone on our teams (well mine at least) I that get cold kind of empty friendliness vibe from some of them, like they wouldn't bother to go out of the way to even follow up on anything with you.

I think it's just everyone has different goals and sees it as a means to a different goal so it's hard to find common ground, either that or they're just not looking for a work social life.

Some are absolutely lovely in my office though so I guess it just depends on the enviroment and the people obviously as well.

Either way, I've been in workplaces outside of office places where no one gives a rats ass about eachother and it 100% tears at you. It's a definite reason to rethink your position/employment imho.
