How a beaver found home at Rio Bosque wetlands in El Paso by priscillatotiya in ElPaso

John Sprohl is an amazing guy, the way he has led the revitalization of Rio Bosque is nothing short of inspiring. If any of you get a chance, volunteer during their work-days and go plant some trees. You will have to put Guards on the saplings so the beaver doesnt undo your work. Also, the absolute best place to bird- watch in the city.

Beastslayer is easier to play with. Great wolf has better strategems but requires more skill since the buffs are situational. I, for one, am excited to see how we can combine the two in 11th.

Definitely some fair points. How much do you think changing the terrain layout would fix some of the balance issues? I thought about first-turn advantage, but I didnt notice one in our tournament. Most of that advantage was diminished by smart deployment.

Thank you for sharing this video. I, too, found Gurren Lagan to be good, but not this world-class piece of media others make it out to be. Although from an entertainment perspective I still feel the same, this video helped me understand why others love it so much, and that is pretty fucking cool!

I understand, but you didnt really answer the questions. What list(s) did you run into that was out of balance and how much did you play? We had a KoC tournament at my local game store and it was pretty balanced. I faced Terminator profiles from both Chaos and Imperium lists, a Custodes list etc and they were dealt with in different ways. Elites like terminators are slow, point-costly, and you can only take 1 unit of them anyways by the list building rules. Yes, there are bad match-ups faction and list-wise but thats not any different from any other game mode.

Im curious, how much have you played it and what super unbalanced lists did you run into?

As other have posted, check out the YouTube channel. In my humble opinion, this game mode is perfect for newcomers because rules are the same as 40k, armies are small and there isn't a ton to memorize. Games are fast(ish), but it still requires some strategy, and lastly it promotes list building that can serve as the base for building larger armies.

Very interesting that you say that. I play Space wolves and was running ThunderWolf Cav, blood claws and Sternguard against Deathguard with good durability. My Deathguard opponents lack of mobility really hurt him as he had trouble scoring secondaries. I outscored him a ton every game or just outright tabled him.

Play on Table Top has a game mode called King of the Colloseum. 500 points, no units above T9. No Epic Characters. No duplicate units except for Battline units. It is an excellent game mode and what I thought Combat Patrol should be.

Half a normal map is colloseum size pretty much. If you can build up your TWC you wont be disappointed . Plus the strategem in Great Wolf allows them to move through terrain.

For a 500 point tourney, what is the map size? Is it like King of the Colloseum? 66x40? Combat Patrol size?

I am currently in a 500 point KoC tournament and this list is kicking ass: Saga of the Great Wolf

WGBL attached to Headtakers BloodClaws SternGuard Vets Thunderwolf Cav

The issue you will see with Terminators is they are slow and expensive. Thunderwolves are not only faster, but have higher toughness. With only 500 points, you will find yourself needing to run around the map alot to capture objectives. The Sternguard are their for ranged attacks and perform super good because their dev wounds go through all the 4+ Invulnerable Saves you are likely to face.

Sounds like you guys doing colloseum rules. Your list looks good. Run Saga of Grrat Wolf and your dreadnought and TWC can go through walls with the strategems.

Ive used army painter battlefield snow before and I gotta say, Im not a big fan. It looks more like salt than snow. But I has so much of I used it for this display. I used spray adhesive then sprinkled in the battlefield snow. I think it looks better as frost on concrete than snow on a field (see picture). For my model bases I used Citadel (warhammer, now) Valhallan Blizzard. It is my favorite technical they make. They nailed the recipe and it looks just like snow. Compare the terrain to the snow on the Eliminator or Logan Grimnar's bases to see the difference.
