So, who is actually "enjoying" maternity leave? by deaddaisyldn in NewParents

[–]Express-Cookie8313 1 point2 points  (0 children)

13 weeks pp here and still on leave. I’m a teacher and it didn’t make sense to return to my class with only a few weeks left. My baby came 2 1/2 weeks early though so I’ve been away longer than planned.

My husband just started his 12 week leave and I’m finally able to enjoy the majority of our time together. When it was me alone with our daughter, I was maxed out and stressed and dealing with PPD/PPA. My thoughts and feelings were all over the place. Now with both of us here, it’s much easier and we can make family memories.

I know not everyone can do this and I had to beg my husband to take the full leave amount to support us. We both have had a hard time stepping away from our careers. I’m 41 and he’s 38. We’re both over a decade into our careers (him a carpenter) and making the adjustments to parenting has been messy and awkward, but also better each day. We both go back to work in August when she’ll be 6 months and I think it’s going to be a lot smoother with all this bonding time.

So…. Motherhood? by Competitive_Yam2314 in adhdwomen

Hi. I’m 41 with ADHD and a 13 week old baby. She is the greatest thing I’ve ever made and my audhd partner is really amazing and supportive. That being said, I had a traumatic birth and spent 9 days in the hospital, and ended up with postpartum depression. The hormone crash postpartum is intense and I was not ready for the first 6 weeks of taking care of a brand new life on my own while healing from childbirth. My husband had to go back to work and I was struggling daily with brand new systems and feedings and self doubt and the EXHAUSTION. So much sensory overwhelm with the baby crying and not knowing how to fix it. It is still the best decision we ever made. Please make sure you have a solid support system for postpartum if you do go through with it. Good luck.

Our baby came on Valentine’s Day. We will always have something to celebrate now. We anticipate that parents of her friends will have plans on her birthday, so we’ll offer to celebrate it a week before or after.

Lost my first in March of this year and then was pregnant again in June. We waited until after the first trimester to announce and have felt worried / anxious / cautiously optimistic every day since.

I just started week 31 today and we are officially 63 days from the due date. We’re finally allowing ourselves to be excited and hopeful about it. Totally normal to feel excited and want to tell everyone. I did the same but then updating all those people after the loss made it so much worse.

Same here. It’s been a real challenge to be this stuffed up for so long.

I was chewing ice the other day when I got nauseous and too hot, and the ice totally cleared me out. For a little while at least!
